    Same day service - brilliant. Called Castlefields doctors first thing in the morning, had a bit of a wait but got through fairly quickly. Given appointment for that day, seen doctor and all sorted. Brilliant doctors, can't fault them!

    Had to go to doctors a couple of times in last couple of months but could only see a paramedic and 2nd time a nurse, after being told I would see a doctor. Don't really like going but had a few things I wanted checking. My appointment was rushed and only managed to speak about my main issue before being pointed to the door. Waiting room had only 2 people in, left more worried than what I was before I went. Was given a fit note saying needed physio but no mention on it of seeing a specialist appointment would be made. Just puts you off going, wonder if that's why they do it?

    My whole experience was a pleasant surprise from start to finish. Firstly, it was very easy to contact the surgery, my call was answered very quickly, and after a few short exploratory questions, I was not expecting what happened next, which was to be offered an appointment to see a GP the same day! Given all that has been published in the press of late about GP availability, this was a very pleasant surprise and a great start. The reception team member I spoke to over the telephone about my appointment, was very respectful, polite, discrete and reassuring, and was very much in tune with my needs. When I arrived at the Health Centre, that continued. The same reception team, if not the same team member was very welcoming, friendly, polite and efficient. They went out of their way to make the check in experience very easy indeed. I should also mention at this point, that there was ample parking right outside the health centre, and that meant for a stress free experience for me, and that I was on time for my appointment. And speaking of being on time, I arrived 5 mins before my appointment time, and pretty much straight after I sat down in what was a very clean, well maintained, calming and informative waiting area (there was lots of useful information and advice on show), I was called by a GP for my appointment, right on time. The GP that I saw, as with all team members that I'd interacted with beforehand, was very reassuring, understanding and genuinely interested in me. They really did go out of my way to put me at ease. They were clearly listening to what I was saying, and very interested in helping me, and I think that assisted with the understanding of the root cause of the symptoms and the next steps. The GP did a great job of asking probing questions in support of this, and also in explaining and checking my understanding throughout. I was asked several times if I was comfortable with treatment and next steps, which was once again, very reassuring. After my appointment had ended, and it did not feel rushed at all, booking a follow up appointment, was so simple. The very helpful reception team member worked around my needs, and booked me an appointment for three working days time, and when I returned, the whole of my brilliant experience was repeated all over again, so this was no one off. All in all, every single member of the team went out of their way to make it as pleasant an experience as possible. Thanks very much.

    94 times i have tried to get through to drs on behalf of my elderly father. Finally get into a call queue in position 5. 10 minutes later position 4…then 10 minutes later back to position 5!!! What an absolute joke. Sort out your management as this service is awful.

    I recently had a worrying health issue and called 111 to get some advice. They advised me that I most likely had shingles, and that I would need an urgent GP examination and vaccination. They told me to ring my GP surgery immediately for treatment. This advice was given late in the evening so I decided to call the practice the following morning. I called them at 8am the following morning.... after ~50 attempts I finally made it in to the queue at position 5. Over the next ~60 minutes I went through positions 4, 3, 2, 4, 5, 4, 3, 5, 4, 5, 4 and then back to 5. I gave up and drove to the GP surgery instead, to see if I could get an emergency appointment, but all I got was "you'll have to ring at 8:00am tomorrow now, there's nothing else we can do for you today". I never did get treatment for what turned out to be a nasty, and extremely painful, case of shingles which is still causing me neuralgia related problems still, 3 months later. I've also been waiting for several months for a phone call from my GP following a series a heart scans and an ECG test but, unsurprisingly, I have never heard anything back relating to that either. Undoubtedly their excuse will be that the test didn't show anything so they didn't bother calling, ignoring my symptoms and leaving me still suffering significant, and quite scary, heart palpitation issues. As the title to this review says, the staff at this practice should be ashamed of themselves, they're all quite happy to take taxpayer's money, but obviously feel no obligation to provide the service this money pays them to provide.

    This time and invariably, when I contact the Health Centre, I know the receptionist will be pleasant and helpful, that I can get a telephone consultation with a doctor and a face to face appointment, when necessary, on the same day. The doctors have always listened, been proactive in seeking to interpret symptoms and given quality care to resolve problems. Castlefields Health Centre in Runcorn is an efficiently run and patient friendly surgery which I have no hesitation in recommending to others and I count myself lucky to be one of its patients.
