  2. Review titled E consult system

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I recently completed an e consult form. I stipulated the hours I am available to take a call, although selected the text option. I received the call during working hours, so wasn’t able to take this. I then phoned the surgery back. The receptionist advised the doctor who had called was just leaving, but they’d pass on the message and would receive a phone call the day after. I received no call, so telephoned the surgery midday. I spoke to a different receptionist who advised that GPs would not call again and that I would need to complete another e consult form. When I received the missed call, no voicemail, text or email was received as on previous occasions. I informed the receptionist that I could do this again, although it is frustrating as it is time consuming and I had already taken the time to do this. However, the same is likely to happen again - GP will call when I cannot answer, leave no message and I will be back to square one. Receptionist advised visiting the pharmacy instead. Really disappointing and felt totally disregarded / penalised for having a job, which means I am not readily available to take calls throughout the day. It is a shame as on other occasions I have used the surgery eg for cervical screening, the service has been great. I also wonder how the e consult system works for elderly people - fortunately I am in the 30s age range, so am competent navigating this.

  4. Review titled Poor communication service

Rated 1 star out of 5

Since joining this doctor's surgery, my experience has been far from satisfactory. My first encounter was during my pregnancy, where I had to endure a long wait. Another concerning incident occurred recently when I messaged them via their app about an issue. I was prescribed a cream for my child, which I collected from the chemist without any charge. However, when I followed up with the doctors, they informed me that I now have to pay for the same cream. I requested an explanation for this sudden change, but all I received was a link to an NHS page, which did not address my questions at all. I had to raise another ticket to inquire about why my earlier queries, from over a month ago, haven't received any response. They seemed unaware of what I was referring to. To add to the frustration, I was advised by a private healthcare doctor to seek a prescription for non-dairy milk from my doctors, and a staff member at Portland Medical Practice suggested sending an email for assistance. I followed their advice, attaching all the necessary documents, only to be told later that I can simply purchase the milk from the chemist. It would have been helpful to know this earlier, as I wonder why I was given conflicting information in the first place. Despite asking multiple times, I still haven't received a clear answer as to why I was given incorrect information or if I can speak to someone directly about these issues. Instead, I only receive text messages that don't directly address my concerns, and there has been no effort to arrange a phone call to discuss and resolve the matter. Overall, my experiences with this doctor's surgery have been disappointing, and I hope they can address these issues promptly and improve their communication and service in the future.

  5. Review titled Not fit for purpose

The practice sent my wife and I a tex for a flue jab I have a lung issue and my wife is asthmatic. We went into the practice to book a jab no appointments for Aug or September the only one date was end of October when I’m on holiday so I said it’s a bit late but could we have a appointment in November they said we don’t know if we be taking appointments for jabs then. So if we are ill with the flue we’ll go to A&E that are already chock a block which is no wonder if all the GP’s are as poor as this practice.
