Dear Patient, Please could you email me on swg-tr.hazelwood.admin1@nhs.net with your name so that I can look into this as we use this facility a lot and have not, so far as I have been made aware, had any problems. If there is a problem, I would like to find out why. Many thanks Mandy Roche Practice Manager

  3. Review titled Disappointing

Rated 1 star out of 5

I have previously called the practice to make an appointment. I work full time and would like to be able to book in advance for my day off as I have done for my dentist and ophthalmologist. I was told that these are not available and I can only book on the day. I arrived at the practice at 7.45am this morning and there were 7 people in front of me. By the time I got to the front of the queue there were no appointments left. I had also tried to join the telephone queue whilst I stood in line but that was constantly engaged. My next day off is now 10 days away with no guarantee of a more satisfactory outcome on that day. This is not an emergency, I don’t need 111 or 999 but I do need to see a doctor. I find it astonishing that there is not a facility to prebook an appointment

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback. I am sorry you got the response you go from our reception. We offer a range of appointments from telephone and video consultations to face to face consultations with a variety of clinicians within the practice. We offer these appointments via online pre-bookable telephone consultations via the NHS app, telephone or present on the day, 'contact us' via our website to which you can fully explain what you need and when. We also have a GP and Paramedic working on a Saturday doing some extended access appointments. We are looking at offering face to face appointments in advance and working out how many we can do without taking too many away from immediate and necessary on the day appointments. If you want to speak to reception via the telephone or via the contact link on our website and explain you work and wish for a Saturday appointment in advance, they will be able to accommodate if there are any available up to four weeks in advance.

  4. Review titled Rude Receptionist

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Dr called my Husbands mobile to discuss urgent test results, his mobile for some reason did not ring out to enable him to answer, the Dr left a message for him to call the surgery, which I did on his behalf the next morning. I was told by an extremely rude receptionist that my Husband should of answered his phone, I explained again that he would of done if it had rung out. She asked if he was available to get to the surgery that day I said yes around 5pm - apparently the Drs don't do face to face appointments that late in the day, I was asked why he couldn't get there any earlier - because he is at work, then she had the cheek to say well he can't be that bad if he is at work, I'm absolutely fuming with her. The Doctors and Nurses are good but that particular receptionist let the surgery down big time and no need for that attitude at 8.20am.

  5. Review titled Offputting experience

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 March 2023

Have had good experiences with the practice until now. I had a symptom which the NHS website says you should contact your GP to have investigated. When I got a callback from the surgery, the GP seemed concerned and asked me to come in in person. The in person appointment was with a different doctor, who was very condescending, and told me the symptom was incredibly common (despite the NHS guidance being explicit about it being a potential concern if it happens for the first time over the age of 30). I felt like a total hyperchondriac. He then said any further investigation would have to be done via blood tests, which cost the NHS over £100. I feel that bringing up costs here was very unprofessional. While I understand the NHS is under a lot of financial pressure, I don't understand why this should be used to berate me just for following medical guidance. When I apologised for wasting his time and tried to leave (I was embarrassed as I thought I'd burst into tears, and felt on the verge of a panic attack) he gave me the blood test forms. I now feel really anxious about having blood tests, as I feel so guilty about wasting resources. (Even though people I know who work in the medical field have informed me that £100 is not an accurate cost). I'm worried what is reflected in my notes from this appointment, because if there's anything suggesting I'm a hyperchondriac, I will have more difficulty getting taken seriously in the future. I didn't make a complaint at the time for fear of this being interpreted as being a hyperchondriac. I didn't even want to book that initial appointment - I was pressured by friends who pointed me to the guidance, and really believed I was doing the right thing in potentially heading off more serious issues by acting promptly. I don't trust what the GP wrote in my notes, because I can see on the blood test forms that it says I've only had the symptom once, when it has been a very regular issue. This experience means I am very unwilling to get a GP appointment in the future unless the condition is very serious (as opposed to a general quality-of-life issue, or getting an ambiguous symptom checked up pre-emptively).

  6. Review titled Very poor

Rated 1 star out of 5

Shockingly awful appointment system. Every time I call this surgery, there are never any call backs by the time you actually get to speak to a receptionist. You are either advised to queue outside from 8am the next day or call 111. Impossible for those of us with children & who work full time How are we supposed to get an appointment to see a GP? Where are the after hours & weekend appointments? Such a shame as it used to be a great surgery with lots of GP's but sadly not anymore.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry if you have been told to come and queue the next day. This is not the correct response. We offer appointments in a variety of ways to suit our patients. We offer book on the day telephone appointments, book on the day face to face appointments, prebookable nurse and other allied professionals appointments, some are for when patients telephone up, some are for patients who prefer to come and wait, some are via the NHS app and we offer digital triage for none urgent contact via 'contact us online' on our website. We also have to allocate some to NHS111 for their emergencies. We offer extended access appointments on a Saturday too to help with the working population needs. Its not just a GP that can help with some of your needs, we have a full multi disciplinary team here to see patients including Registrars, Clinical Practitioner, Nurse Prescribers along with traditional practice nurses as well as non-traditional primary care roles of First Contact Physiotherapists, Clinical Pharmacists, primary care paramedics, Social prescribers and care navigators. We are commissioned to offer services which includes the above range of appointments and once all have been taken then we do advise patients of other services that are also commissioned in the same way which includes NHS11 and walk in centres.

  7. Review titled Feeling let down

Rated 1 star out of 5

After several attempts to get an appointment over the phone I finally get one for my young daughter who has been suffering in pain for months. I don’t exactly know how many gps are recommending children to give up sport and take up a PlayStation but I met one today. Without going into to much detail I now would like to pay for an mri scan for my daughter but need a referral from her gp So now I have to go through the same rigmarole of calling at 8 in the morning knowing full well that there will be no appointments as the thirty people queuing outside the surgery will have got them. So I will have to take another days annual leave to queue up again to ask for a call back to ask for a referral. And probably take up a valuable appointment that some poor soul needs. Why can’t your receptionist just pass on the message. I am willing to pay a small fortune to try and help my daughter but I can’t even do that due to your surgery. I am truly gob smacked at how difficult it is to try and get a 14 year old girl in severe pain a bit of help

  8. Review titled Poor Service

Rated 1 star out of 5

I attended Solihull Hospital on 28 Mar 22 for tests and was told to wait 2 weeks before speaking to Drs. During the last two weeks in April and into May I called the surgery but could not get through. On 12th May I got through to reception and was told the results were there but had not been reviewed by a Dr, but to call next week. On 17th May I decided it was best to go and see them as I had no joy getting through on the phone. The receptionist told me 1) she could not see my results on their system, 2) She spoke to her colleague who at first could not see the results. After another look she found an attachment, but it had still not been sent to the Dr. so they arranged a "call back". My concern is not only the telephone system but also the delay in getting results. My results seem to have been sitting on their system not being reviewed by anyone. What if it had been life threatening and I hadnt chased it. No Dr would have seen the results. Sounds to me like its an accident waiting to happen.
