  1. Review titled Treatment Room

Rated 4 stars out of 5

Had to have blood test this morning in treatment room. Quite a few in surgery mostly for treatment Room. R was running late but that is to be expected as these poor ladies seem rushed off their feet all the time. I honestly don’t know how they manage to stay so cheerful. It wasn’t a long wait. As always this particular lady was first class . She always listens when I tell her the place she will be able to get blood drawn and there is no sign of bruise and I’m very difficult to get blood from. Thank you to the lady and reception who rang me to arrange blood test so it was prompt.

  2. Review titled Poor

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Cannot book an appointment unless the receptionist knows what the problem is. At the moment I am in so much discomfort, that this is affecting my sleep. Having to buy medications off the Internet to try and treat myself. Due to not being allowed to see a GP.

  3. Review titled Improved service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I really like the new on line service of messaging which type of appointment you need. I received a reply the next morning with a choice of appointments for the day after. When attending for my appointment, I checked in on the screen and it told me exactly where to go within the surgery. It was a really positive experience.

  4. Review titled Awful practice and receptionist

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 September 2023

Called 111 and they told me I needed a call from a doctor minimum and to call Aldergate as they had sent a message to them stating the reasons and assessment details. Called Algergate and was told a no no no way could I have either a physical or telephone appointment. Called 111 back to tell them what had happened and the lady said she had managed to book a telephone appointment direct with Aldergate and a doctor would call today. I confirmed my number and waited. Having sat all day in agony with a back problem I called Aldergate at 4.45 to see if someone was going to call. Apparently a doctor tried me in the morning but couldn't get through. When I ask what number they tried me on the receptionist told me a mobile that hadn't been my number for 8 years despite informing Aldergate on my previous visit of my current number. They had no record of the number I repeated to 111 earlier. GP clinics are in the news quite often for slow responses and difficulty with appointments. It really doesn't help when ineptitude and stupidity is combined with an already dreadful patient service. Thanks Aldergate. I'll hobble to A&E and sit in agony for 6 hours. So glad I'm a life long tax payer.

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that you have had a poor experience with us. I have looked into the misunderstanding with your mobile phone number and it would appear that your number was updated during a consultation in May this year. The details from 111 are not immediately available on the system and your preferred contact number was not shared by them in the booking notes. I have now updated your contact details. Please let us know if they change again by visiting our website. https://www.aldergatemedicalpractice.co.uk/ I will feedback to 111, and ask them to ensure the mobile number is added to the booking notes in future. Please let me know if you would like to discuss this further by contacting me at aldergate.practice@nhs.net Kind regards Sam Blackwill, practice manager

  5. Review titled Very efficient

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Philip Kellett - Posted on 19 October 2023

Joined this practice within the past year. What a refreshing difference from our long time poor service at a surgery not far away. I was informed the change over would take up to a month. 22 hours later i was informed i was now a patient, Wow. The staff are approachable, efficient in sorting issues, and on the ball with routine checkups. Superb service by friendly, informed and efficient staff. They should be held up as a 'Best practice surgery' in my opinion. So glad I moved here.

  7. Review titled Your’re better off with crystals and incense!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 April 2023

Impossible to get an appointment even though the practice is advertising for new patients to sign up when it’s obvious they can’t cope with the patient list they have. Massively understaffed both in terms of GP’s and support staff, 18 phone calls to actually get on the phone waiting list by which time all emergency appointments are gone! Serious changes need to be made at this practice before patient safety is compromised.

  8. Review titled Truly Awful

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 November 2022

After being a patient for 50 plus years , I received the following badly worded , extremely unhelpful and unfriendly message from the surgery. “It has come to our attention that you have now moved out of our Practice area, therefore you will need to register with a new GP nearer to yourself within the next 14 days as your records will need to be sent back to the Health Authority.” Thanks, The Aldergate Med. Pract. Where’s the signposting , consideration of the persons needs or any humanity , shocking , glad to be moving on.

  9. Review titled Time really doesn't apply to all patients

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Kenneth Allan - Posted on 21 October 2022

I had cause to contact via phone regarding prescription and this is what I was subjected to! 15.38 I called. After 11 minutes and 30 seconds I was told that I was number 5 on the waiting list, after a further 8.5 minutes I became 4th on list, a further 2 minutes I became 3rd on the list, after a further 16 minutes I moved on to number 1 on the list, another 1 minute 10 seconds my call was answered by a very helpful receptionist. What was the greatest thing to cope with was being repeatedly (every 30 seconds) screeched at by a taped recording which went from shrill to inaudible advising me that my call was "very important" Total telephone call lasted a wholly unacceptable 46 minutes. Whilst appreciating the difficult times we are living through the practice, in my opinion, needs to look at it's patients who are, after all, the people who need proper consideration, especially the elderly who find the restrictions they are being subjected to totally bemusing!

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that you have had problems getting an appointment. Demand is very high and in response to this we are offering appointments with a variety of clinicians. We offer routine and same day appointments, these are released daily. NHS111 also have access to some of our appointments and will use them following a clinical triage. The vaccination programme runs alongside our normal practice and does not affect the number of appointments we offer. We are currently looking at how we can improve our appointment system to meet the increased patient need while maintaining patient and staff safety. Please contact me at the practice if you would like to discuss this further. Kind regards Sam Blackwill Practice Manager
