  1. Review titled Poor

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Graeme - Posted on 15 April 2024

I phoned for an appointment in March to hopefully sort out an niggling pain in my elbow. I could not get an appointment by phone until today then was told there was no face to face appointments until middle of may, the only advice I was given was to call the surgery and book an appointment with first contact, when i did call the surgery i was told unfortunately they are no appointments available locally. I was told either the gp i spoke to earlier will call me and refer me to a physiotherapist or the receptionist will call to let me know. I am still waiting.

  2. Review titled Very good nursing care

Rated 4 stars out of 5

    by Ted H - Posted on 16 April 2024

This Review replaces one I started a few minutes ago and which stopped as a result of a technical matter. I had made an appt for my adult son who is disabled to get a dressing changed at the practice. He had an operation for a badly fractured hip and was extremely anxious about the appt. When we got there the practice nurse greeted us and her friendly, kindly approach worked wonders for both of us, especially my son who was visibly calming down. Throughout the nurse explained exactly what she was going to do next and finished with a much more suitable dressing than the one he had initially. We came away very satisfied and next time son will be happy to have his leg dressed agsin. Excellent service from this surgery. We also had to change a “Sharps” box whilst we were there in relation to the same accident. This time it was the receptionist with whom we had registered with on the way in who was also very kind and took out Sharps box from us and replaced it with a new one.

  3. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My son needed a vaccination unfortunately the practice didn't have it in stock so they arranged a prescription and sent it to the pharmacy that did have it in stock and then arranged an appointment. All done very quickly and efficiently. Excellent service

My elderly nan was feeling very unwell. My aunty called late morning and by lunch time a GP had visited to assess her and prescribed medication that made her feel much better. She is housebound so we were very grateful-thank you

  5. Review titled Knee treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 April 2024

I took advantage of an out of hours appointment for a painkilling injection in my knee whilst awaiting TKR. It went well and I felt immediate relief, movement and comfort. The doctor explained the treatment I was having and answered my questions regarding the time it would be effective for.

  6. Review titled Frustrating experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

I ordered a repeat prescription on line. After 4 days it had not been approved. I tried on three occasions to contact the practice by phone. My first attempt failed after 20 minutes. The second was answered but cut off after 5 seconds. The third was answered but the receptionist was unable to resolve my problem and advised me that she "might" get back to me the following day but could not guarantee it. I'm sure the staff are trying but something is wrong with the system!

  8. Review titled Bad phone connection

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Jennifer glover - Posted on 09 May 2023

I’ve tried four times today to get though to your practice only to be cut off twice and once being number 28, so I didn’t bother and the third time be in number 25 in the queue .. why oh why am I being cut off when I get to number three or next in line?.this is so annoying. All I want is my blood test results!!!.. but it just seems impossible to get through to this practice . One very unhappy patient.

  9. Review titled A good advert for privatisation

Rated 2 stars out of 5

2 receptionists on one station who reluctantly gave me (and made me feel as though I should be eternally grateful) the "only" appointment available 3 weeks hence. If this reflects the practice as a whole then the inspectorate needs to visit. If this was a service I was going to pay for with my own cash, rather than over 45 year's indirectly through taxation, I would have gone elsewhere.

  10. Review titled Negligence

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Lee Turner - Posted on 27 February 2023

My partner and I are waiting for some potentially life changing results with regards to her health. She has experienced life threatening conditions to her health previously, so we have been anxious to hear the results of the tests taken, which would confirm or deny any issues. Yesterday on the 27.02.23, we phoned the doctors expecting to hear about the results, however, the receptionist after putting us on hold twice, came back flustered to tell us she wasn't clinically trained to give out results. we then asked after a minute of silence on her behalf, if we could speak to a doctor to get the results, she replied that she would go and get a doctor now, and we would be phoned this afternoon. The phone call never happened, and now me and my loved one are left in limbo, extremely concerned about the potentially life changing results. This doctors has added unnecessary additional stress to an already testing time. We are awaiting news about a potentially life changing illness. Where is the practice's duty of care to its patients. I am not concerned if this doesn't fit the definition of the law, with regards to "duty of care", but on a moral and professional basis, you should be ashamed of the level of care that you offer your patients. We are terrified about these results, and you have made it more stressful at an already tense and stressful time.

Thank you for your comment. Your partner will need to contact the practice for her results, and the practice manager would be happy to investigate this issue and discuss her experience further. She can reach the Practice by telephone 01743 281950 or email sfmp.info@nhs.net to make contact.
