  1. Review titled Appalling service

Rated 1 star out of 5

Waited almost a month for an appointment (review of blood test results). Arrived a few minutes late (stuck in traffic for an hour) and the doctor refused to see me. Offered "next available appointment" which is over a month away. Test results mention "uncontrolled diabetes, hypothyroidism, liver disease and nephrotic syndrome" and "premature coronary heart disease". So clearly something that needs attention and yet I feel I am treated like a nuisance and told to come back in a month. My advice: avoid this practice at all costs.

  2. Review titled Awful treatment from reception team

Rated 1 star out of 5

I’m gobsmacked!! After being told by the reception team to ring 111, I did buy was told there was no appointments with out of hours and to ring my gp. So- I rang back. I was told by sixways they didn’t deal with abdominal pain and wouldn’t make an appointment. I said I have no other option I’d like to just speak to my doctor at least. The receptionist said she would not be able to do this and couldn’t help. I’m at a loss as to why GPs exist if they aren’t able to help their patients and instead leave them in pain and without help?!?!

  3. Review titled Kind and caring

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Ian Howgate - Posted on 18 August 2023

My 89 year old mother has just recently joined the surgery and we have today been visited by a doctor who came out to review her care. To use my mother's words "he was absolutely lovely", but he was also extremely professional and very understanding. We could not have asked for more. God bless you all.

Dear Mr Howgate, Thank you for your kind words, these have been passed on to the Doctor involved and the wider team. We aim to provide an excellent level of care to all our patients and I am pleased to hear that your Mother felt that this was given to her. Best wishes Ceri Gardener Practice Manager

  4. Review titled Confidentiality?

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Receptionists were helpful and friendly, but I was a bit dismayed that patients are expected to explain their medical problems to receptionists in front of other patients. I took a step back when the lady in front of me was asked for details about her condition, but without leaving my place in the queue, could not avoid being made aware of her medical problems. Likewise, when my turn came, those in the room were made privy to details I would much rather have kept private. I tried to get around it by naming the drug I was prescribed rather than the condition, but the receptionist helping me responded with, "Oh, that's for ....". Patients should not have to ask for privacy when they talk about their medical conditions - which in itself draws attention to the fact that they may be suffering from something embarrassing; confidentiality should be routine. The voice message you get when phoning the surgery is that patients do not need to worry about talking to receptionists about their medical conditions because staff are bound by confidentiality rules. Can we assume random bystanders are subject to the same rules? I would like to emphasise that I have no complaint against the staff, who were friendly, helpful and efficient. However, I do have concerns about the system which depends on an expectation that patients will not mind declaring their medical concerns in front of strangers.

  5. Review titled Just awful

Rated 1 star out of 5

Just awful wish I had never transferred. Receptionists are rude and need a lesson in customer service and empathy. They make stuff up, don’t call you back, often get forgotten about, tell you you have not requested things when you know full well you have, can’t even get your name right on the system although you provided them with a marriage certificate the were very obstinate about, direct you to the wrong place when they have no medical training and you know they are wrong. I have written and verbalised numerous complaints, despite admitting their faults nothing changes. Always running late, despite no one waiting, unable to follow simple instructions or requests. Makes my irate just thinking about talking to them. I am always polite when I start off talking to them but the attitude from them sucks, so no wonder they need a message saying please be respectful to our staff, how about you take a leaf out if that book and be respectful to your patients. Once you get past reception the medical staff are fairly good.

  6. Review titled Not impressed

Rated 1 star out of 5

Great practice nurses. However I've had a number of telephone consultations booked over the last year or so and on only one have I had a call as booked. Once I was given a 5 hour period when I had to be available. No one phoned. Last one booked the GP was on a training morning. Response is just that they are very busy. Do they not realise other people are busy too. I was referred to a hospital consultant. He was not impressed as the referral letter was one line and the medical history was completely incorrect. Getting a repeat prescription can be problematic as repeat prescription requests are sometimes not processed. I've almost given up. I very much value the NHS but I feel I must look to change practice.
