  1. Review titled Poor excuses

Rated 2 stars out of 5

    by T. Alderton - Posted on 30 April 2024

My repeat prescriptions are filled through Pharmacy2U. This takes three days from clicking the reminder, to them landing on the doormat. My last request from them was ignored by the surgery, so was their follow up email. The third request gained a reply - 'we are having a problem with our electronic transfer service this week'. Meanwhile I had visited the surgery to be told the problem was with Pharmacy2U, then, that the surgery system was not working. I visited again in a few days and the system was still not working and that I should take a paper prescription to the chemist. Electing not to lose my place with Pharmacy2U, I left and returned days later to be told that only 'some' patients were experiencing issues and that I really should accept the paper prescription. So now I have had 3 versions of an excuse, and it has been made clear that I really, really should accept their paper prescription. The more excuses I get, the more it looks like a simple error has been made and that hubris is compounding the problem.

  2. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Phoned surgery today and as always, received a friendly and helpful response from one of the ladies in reception; a prompt call back from the doctor and an appointment to see A GP the same day. They always go over and above to accommodate their patients if they are able. Thank you and a happy 2024 to all the staff.

  3. Review titled Disappointed

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Graham - Posted on 17 October 2023

As I will be taking my wife for her covid booster to Yelverton surgery I asked if I could have mine at the same time. (I have recieved my invite to book as one of a vulnerable group). I was told by the receptionist that they have allocated all of their stocks so this will not be possible. She then directed me to the Home Park walk in centre. It seems that I cannot be seen at the GP I am registered with. As I do not have the time or inclination to travel to Home Park I will be giving the covid jab a miss this year.

Dear Graham We are sorry to learn that you could not book a covid booster appointment. The covid vaccine programme is an optional service for GP surgeries and we rely on our staff working additional hours to provide this service for our patients. Uptake this Autumn has been very high and clinics booked very quickly, often within an hour or two of releasing the appointments. We do not release appointments until we are in receipt of the vaccine as in the past, we have found that the vaccine ordered has not been delivered and we have had to cancel clinics of over 100 patients. Please do ask the nurse when you bring your wife to her appointment as we sometimes have spare vaccine if patients are unable to attend on the day of the clinic. Alternatively, you may wish to call 119 who may be able to direct you to a vaccination service nearer to your home than the Home Park service in Plymouth. Thank you for taking the time to comment. Kind regards Sue Practice Manager

  5. Review titled Brilliant Surgery

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Richard Bruty - Posted on 08 August 2023

I cannot praise Yelverton surgery enough. I have complex health needs and have regularly visited the surgery for a number of issues in the last 8 years. Throughout this period I have had an excellent service from all the doctors , nurses and admin staff. They have been thoroughly professional particularly throughout the recent Civid pandemic. I have always been able to see a doctor either face to face or speak directly on the phone and have not experienced the usual gripe of having no access to medical assistance which is widely reported in the press and media. I am eternally grateful for my surgery’s help and support . They are to be congratulated for their outstanding dedication to their patients and local community

  6. Review titled Can you change GP surgery's?

Rated 1 star out of 5

I'm going to have to change GP. This is a disgraceful service at Yelverton. They never follow anything up and never call you back. The receptionist is very rude. I'm not sure if they have staffing problems but this level of care is totally unacceptable.

Dear patient, Thank you for your feedback; we would appreciate you putting your specific concerns in writing to our Practice Manager so that these can be formally addressed. This is rare feedback and we welcome the opportunity to put things right. With this information we can also check our call recordings. You are of course within your rights to register at a different surgery. Sue Edwards Practice Manager

  7. Review titled Disappointed

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I have been going to Yelverton Surgery for nearly 5 years now and have had nothing but great service until very recently. I was left sitting in the waiting room 35 mins after my scheduled appointment. I sat there and watched most of the staff leave and not one person came to ask if I was ok. I ended up going to reception, (which I never like to do) and saying I have been sitting there for over 35 mins waiting on my appointment. I eventually was seen to. Apparently the doctor never received any notice of my appointment from reception whom I told when I first got there I had an appointment. Just very disappointed at how I was left there. Otherwise this surgery has been brilliant. I hope my next appointment goes better.
