  1. Review titled Good experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Arthur Jordan - Posted on 22 April 2024

This morning 22/04/2024 I phoned because I was feeling quite ill. I spoke to the coordinator and was immediately given an appointment. When I got to Victoria house I booked in and within 5 minutes was called in. The person I saw was a Parammedic. He was very thorough in his examination and very reassuring when you are unwell and at a low. Thank you.

  2. Review titled Fantastic nurse

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I had a blood pressure review this morning and, being needle and blood phobic, was not looking forward to it. However, the nurse I saw was so lovely, calming and understanding that I wasn't nearly as anxious as usual. Thank you so much for being so kind and all round fantastic.

  3. Review titled Terrible surgery

Rated 1 star out of 5

This practice is run so poorly. Their systems are fully designed for the surgery's convenience with no mind to patience experience. Below are some of their rules: - you can only book an appointment on the day by calling at 8am. I've waited for 40 minutes only to be told there are no appointments. I was not allowed to book one for the following day instead. - you can only book to see your doctor. If your doctor isn't working you can't book an appointment. Not even for a day when they're back in. - your doctor might be working at one of 3 surgeries. If you are unable to get to the surgery they are at (regardless of how far it is or your mobility) you can't book in to see another doctor at a closer surgery. - if you are physically at the surgery you are not allowed to book an appointment at reception. You have to call them on the phone. You are also not allowed to all them to add a note to your record for the doctor to see. I'm recovering from major surgery and I'm supposed to have a check up. My doctor is apparently working at the Langford surgery for all of March so I am not allowed to book an appointment at Victoria House which is right next to my house and is the surgery I am registered with. I can't get to the Langford surgery and the receptionist clearly just wanted me off the phone and told me I would just have to find a way to get there. This unhelpfulness is present in every interaction with the front of house staff at these surgeries. I'm moving to another doctors and I would recommend not joining this surgery.

  4. Review titled Extremely helpful

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Yesterday I called for an appointment at 8am, received an appointment for 9am the same morning, wasn't sat down long after arriving before they called my name and the Dr I spoke to (I believe was a paramedic) was very informative about what was causing my symptoms and was very clear when explaining the best way to treat them and get better. He was very clear in the way he explained it all to me making it easy to understand but was also very cheerful and friendly making the trip to the Dr's much more enjoyable so I'd like to say thank you very much for all of his help.

  6. Review titled Impossible to get an appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

The whole appointment process is so complicated and bureaucratic it seems designed to put people off. And E-consults are cancelled if you don’t do everything spot on.

Saw the paramedic yesterday and he was professional and made me feel confident. He supplied helpful information and advice. Had a friendly manner. Made sure I received a prescription efficiently.

  8. Review titled Excellent GP surgery

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Nicola Lawrence - Posted on 19 September 2023

My youngest son had deteoriated during his day with his childminder. He was very miserable and had a chesty cough. When I picked him up at 1630 after work, she suggested I get him seen. I called during my ten min drive home. My GP called me back before I reached home. I explained the situation and he suggested I divert to the surgery. My GP then checked my son over and diagnosed a chest infection, prescribing a dose of antibiotics. I'm leaving this review because this is the sort of brilliant service I always get from the Alchester Medical Group, and I think I'm in danger of taking for granted but I realise it is truly excellent and I am very grateful for the super care they show towards my family. Thank you to you all.

  9. Review titled Pleasant Experience

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Suzelle Kuhn - Posted on 13 June 2023

Our almost 1 year old has been sick for a while and on Friday we noticed discharge from his ear with a fever. At first I wasn't sure if I should phone as I've always gotten the same response when our GP would phone us back. I got a call back from another GP and he asked us to bring in our baby so he could examine him. We where helped in a very professional manner and the GP was extremely helpful and explained everything really well to us. We moved here August last year and our little one has been constantly sick. As a first time mother in another country with no friends or family it's been really hard on me at times when he's been under the weather. I've always felt like I'm doing something wrong. By the end of the visit the GP explained to us that because of the move and change in climate and all it can take up to 2 years for all of us to adjust and that it would be normal for us the be more sick than what we usually are. My whole world changed in that moment, everything made sense and and it feld like a big load was lifted off my shoulders. I wasn't failing my child, it would just take time to adjust. I would like to personally thank the GP for taking the time to see us and to explain to us what is going on and happening. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much. You have settled a worrying mothers heart and mind. Thank you also to all the staff from starting point of when we phoned to reception when we got there. All of them where very helpful and kind x

  10. Review titled Paramedic five stars

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mrs Dean - Posted on 21 June 2023

It’s never easy when you need to see your gp but they happen to have a day off and although you know what you need in terms of treatment you’re still requested to come in for an appointment. However if you were lucky enough like me to be seen by the senior paramedic, you will never be disappointed. He always listens and takes his time to fully understand both the patient and the full extent of my circumstances. I’ve never been disappointed, and I’ve never been left in a state of ill health that warranted further 111 or a&e. He is an absolute credit to the Practice!
