  1. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Emma Etheridge - Posted on 09 January 2023

I called the practice on the 23rd December and within 90 minutes they booked an appointment for me, I’d seen the doctor and walked out with a prescription for daughter. Very efficient and helpful service and helped us avoid needed urgent care over Christmas

  2. Review titled Perfect Reception Desk experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Tony Ansell - Posted on 06 October 2022

The young lady (name unknown) that dealt with my needs this morning, displayed a perfect attitude in my opinion. She was friendly, helpful, empathetic, understanding, cheerful, patient and went way beyond what I was expecting of anybody in that position. I thanked her for her demeanour and encouraged her to keep up the excellent work. She deserves recognition by others as well as me.

  3. Review titled Can’t get an appointment!

Rated 1 star out of 5

I have lost count of the amount of times I’ve phoned now to try and speak to my doctor- I can’t even get a phone appointment! I phone up at 8am on the dot like they say, wait on the phone for nearly 30 minutes, just to be told there are no appointments left. It’s ridiculous! And if I want to prebook an appointment to see my doctor I have to wait for nearly a month and a half..! The things I need to discuss with my doctor are extremely important and sensitive subjects. This is just not acceptable. On top of that, the receptionists I speak to are downright rude and patronising.

  4. Review titled Above and beyond expectations

Rated 5 stars out of 5

A note to express my appreciation of thatcham health centre's prompt response to my very late repeat prescription request; On the day I noticed that I had just a 2 day supply of the said medicine left I made an immediate, online, repeat prescription request, accompanied by my apologies for a very late effort and for the inconvenience I've caused. Early the following morning thatcham health centre replied that all prescription requests require two working days notice but on this occasion "your prescription has been issued urgently and will be with your nominated pharmacy by the end of today. Please order your prescriptions in plenty of time" Point taken and lesson learned. The usual procedure for repeat prescription requests is for the patient to allow 2 working days for the surgery to process the request and transfer it electronically to the nominated pharmacy and then allow the pharmacy 2 working days to administrate and prepare the medicine for collection or delivery. It's a system which works very well, subject to patients giving the required notice of their requirements. On this occasion I failed to meet that standard and offer my deep appreciation that thatcham health centre went above and beyond expectations to satisfactorily resolve my problem. Thank you. 5. Review titled Can't get past reception

Rated 3 stars out of 5

A friend has recently had skin cancer treatment so I thought I'd check out some lesions I've got. I phoned and when I got through as requested I explained why I wanted an appointment. Only to be told there are no appointments try again tomorrow, so I didn't feel it needed immediate attention so I asked why I couldn't simply make an appointment in the next few weeks, the response was well we're not taking appointments until end of September beginning of October, it was clear she didn't want to make an appointment so I said I just won't bother, to which her response was ok thanks bye, and the phone went down. So in times when they're reporting exceptional numbers of annual deaths above the average surely the receptionist should concern themselves more with the fact someone felt the need to see a doctor rather than how quickly can I get rid of this caller?

We are sorry to hear of your experience , this is not the level of service we aspire to. It is best to see your GP or Nurse if you have any skin abnormality , such as a lump, ulcer , lesion or skin discoloration that has not healed after 4 weeks. Please contact the surgery or book an appointment on line. Alternatively e-mail lindalawson1@nhs.net. Linda Lawson (Practice Manager)

I’ve been to this practice on a number of occasions and everyone (GPs, nurses, receptionists etc) have always been friendly, patient and understanding.
