    I recent had to attend for my Cervical screening, not something that I actively 'look forward to' I have to say that the nurse I had was amazing!! Very reassuring, kind and considerate. I know some people avoid attending their screenings! Nurses such as these mean that there isn't a need to do so. In and out in under 10 minutes for something that could potentially save your life! Make sure you book your appointments!

    I recently got a text on behalf of my Mum suggesting she went to the surgery to have her blood pressure taken as it apparently hasn't been done for 5 years. I replied pointing out that she is housebound and their records include this. Their response was they know she is housebound (in which case why suggest she go to the surgery) and could a member of the family go to collect the blood pressure equipment and take the reading at home and report the results to the surgery. At first, I assumed this was some sort of terrible joke but no, the idea is we, the public with no medical training start to undertake the work of doctors and nurses. I'm truly shocked and very disappointed indeed. Needless to say I won't be doing this as I'm not at all comfortable with it. I wonder how many other patients are being asked to undertake medical procedures on behalf of medically trained staff.

    I am sorry that you are not happy with your recent experience of the surgery. I can confirm that text messages are sent out in bulk to all patients that have not had a blood pressure recorded on their records in the past 5 years, around 1000 text messages were recently sent. If the patient is unable to attend the surgery then there are other alternatives. A lot of patients now have their own blood pressure machines as the digital ones are cheap to purchase and easy to use, receptionists therefore, either advise giving us a reading from patients own machines or we loan out a machine for patients to use. We appreciate that a small number of patients will not be able to or not wish to take their own readings and we would therefore suggest that this be taken when the housebound patient was receiving a home visit for another matter such as a blood test or flu vaccination.     I’m not a patient here, but one of my employees is. She came into work today in a really bad way, and with her permission I rang for a GP appointment. The receptionist answered very quickly, she was very compassionate and professional, and offered an appointment within a couple of hours. My team member was incredibly grateful to the practice and now has a plan to get herself better again thanks to the fantastic GP she saw. Really well done Fryern for seeing the human behind the patient.

    The receptionist was rude and useless and put the phone down. Would not listen. Spoke over me the patient fresh out of hospital after heart operation. Second was equally irresponsible by failing to arrange medication and after care required of the GP. Useless and unhelpful.

    Whilst it is early days (I only moved in the Autumn from Park Surgery) I've had two appointments and for both the doctor appeared in the waiting room before the appointment time calling me in! Very impressive, friendly and efficient. Obviously time will tell whether I've made the right decision but so far so good.

    When receptionist finally answer the phone for making an appointment but there are none, seems to be very few doctors at this surgery, long wait even for telephone consultation, seems to an unorganised surgery, with very little care about patients, was good a long time ago but gone downhill

    I needed advice and a medication issuing on a Friday afternoon and the surgery reception team were very helpful and arranged a callback from a doctor very quickly. The doctor was friendly and understanding and able to issue a prescription electronically, saving me time and a trip to A&E at the weekend. . Thankyou!

    On 16th May I reported to this surgery becuase I had lost some medicines and wanted them to be re[placed. I was helped by a very pleasant receptionist, who allowed me to complete a Temporary Resident's card and told me to come back for the medicine. I returned the next day, only to be told that I had to wait three days. I therefore returned three days later, only to be told that the medicines could not be issued unless I had the original boxes, which had to include the full name and address of the doctor who had originally prescribed them. If I could not do that, then I would have to wait to see a doctor and the earliest possible apppoi8ntment was some time in June. At this point the discussion was interrupted by an exceptionally officious paramedic in a blue uniform who insisted on telling me that she could give me the telephone number of some pharmceutical consultant, but as that wasw of no use to me, I left the surgery. I then crossed the road to the nearest Boots pharmacy and explained the situation to a pharmacist who was on duty. I explained that what I needed most was a course of esomprazole magnesium tablets of 20 mg strength. She then sold me a packet of Nexium tablets which are apparently now available over the counter because government regulations have changed. This entire charade has saved the taxpayer an astonishing 7 pounds 49 pence, and has proved to me that certain parts of the NHS are no longer fit for purpose. This surgery, I was told, deals with 17000 people. God help them.

    Dear Mr McBeath I am sorry you were not happy with the service that we provided. The Doctor was not happy to prescribe several medications to you without seeing the strength and dose required for safety reason. Unfortunately, as you were on holiday from another country you have no GP practice in the UK and we are therefore unable to check medication requirements. I would suggest that you double check you have all your medication requirements before travelling to the UK. Practice Manager
