  2. Review titled Shocking (lack of) advice from the nurse

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 09 April 2024

After having a series of blood tests I was advised that my cholesterol level was slightly elevated. Today the nurse called me. I asked "what should I eat less of?", they replied "Google your food". I was shocked and asked if they could be more specific. I was then told "eat less cheese" - when I said I didn't eat much hard cheese, the response was "just eat less of it". What sort of medically-informed advice is this? I am aghast that I have waited weeks for a call with a nurse to discuss this and that is what I am told. This is literally less advice than I would get from Google - no wonder people self-diagnose from the internet - it seems they are encouraged to do that by Mitcham Family Practice medical staff.

  3. Review titled Poor service for mental health

Rated 1 star out of 5

Had a mental health breakdown to which I called the practice to get an emergency appointment. They said they have no appointments available. I reiterated that my life is on the line and need to speak with someone to which I was finally offered an appointment two days later. This then lead to a one hour wait in the waiting room from my morning appointment.. how can you run behind from morning appointments?! This isn’t the first time that I’ve had to wait around in the waiting room. Poor service and not much empathy from the doctor or receptionist either

  4. Review titled Shocking staff

Rated 1 star out of 5

Called them at 8am, 4th in the queue so hold on... 20 mins later starts ringing...another 15 mins of ringing, nothing so I gave up. Called them again and magically it was answered straight away?? however, all appts had gone. I asked how that was possible when I was 4th in line at 8am. Receptionist said they had 5 phones and that is why??? What does that even mean! She clearly couldn't understand what I was saying and frankly sounded like she didn't care. This used to be a reasonable practice but now it's shockingly bad. Very sad state of affairs.

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear about your recent experience with practice phone system. Practice have installed a cloud based new phone system recently which has ten lines. It puts patients in a queue system until phone is answered by a receptionist. Unfortunately by the time your phone was answered all appointments had gone. We are currently reviewing and monitoring the new system if it does work for patients. Thank you for the feedback which we will take into account. Kind Regards, Practice Manager

  5. Review titled Poor Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Since Covid its been impossible to get an appointment. You are advised to phone at 8am, you phone and hold for 20 minutes and are then told the GP is fully booked and you have to try another day. Alternatively if you want to book an advance appointment in a few weeks time. If you are feeling really ill, you are better off just phoning the undertaker

  6. Review titled Most disappointing

Rated 1 star out of 5

I have had a super frustrating experience, There is no attention, the doctor missed Tele appointment and failed multiple times. When they miss appointment, they rebook for after 7 to 15 days without caring that patient needs attention. There is a monthly recurring appointment from doctor for which I never received any callback. Surgery staff is also fedup with the doctor

  7. Review titled Useless just isn't the right word

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Daniel - Posted on 08 August 2022

I've waited a year since joining for them to get my records from another surgery, I haven't had my repeat prescription issued for just over a year. I usually have regular blood tests, in which haven't been organized ever at this surgery. The general attitude is very relaxed and negligent at best. When I finally got an appointment through management the nurse cancelled it, without even leaving a message on my answering machine. If you like wasting time give them a try.. I wish I never bothered.
