  1. Review titled Always a fantastic service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sam Cosham - Posted on 24 April 2024

At every opportunity I have had dealing with this surgery has always been met with the utmost professionalism and care, whether this is with the reception team or the clinical team in person. The implementation of eConsult has meant that I am able to submit a request without needing to phone the surgery knowing that someone will call back the same or next day with the next step on how to progress. Lots of surgeries get a bad reputation for lengthy appointment times etc and whilst that is true for minor ailments, when you’re properly ill, you get seen and usually sorted the same day, if not the next day which has been my experience. Thank you

  2. Review titled Speedy response

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mr Peter King - Posted on 02 January 2024

I phoned the practice this morning, had to wait about 13 minutes to get through which is understandable. Was phoned back later this morning to discuss the issue and was referred to hospital for xrays, received call from Southlands this afternoon and have arranged for xrays to be done tomorrow morning! Great service from the Park Surgery and Southlands as less than 24 hours between first contact with the surgery and getting the xrays done.

  3. Review titled Used to be great practice

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Unfortunately, based on my experience, the quality of care has dropped significantly during the last 4,5 years. Apart from the long waits for appointments, the rudeness of staff and dealing with patients in an unprofessional manner is becoming common practice. My gp has always been polite and she would listen to our concerns with patience, but unfortunately not all health professionals employed by the surgery keep up to this standard. Last time my baby was seen by one of the advanced nurse practitioners, I was rudely interrupted while trying to explain what the issue is and raising my concerns, I was mocked and treated in an unprofessional way. This was the second time my baby was seen by the same health professional and the attitude was the same, judgemental, disrespectful, making sarcastic comments about my concerns with no empathy, at times I even felt intimidated and attacked for worrying about my child. I was expecting help, guidance, reassurance, advice and I left the surgery feeling like a failure of a parent and feeling like I am imagining things. A year ago, I had a similar experience with a paramedic who saw my baby, 4 months old at the time, and after expressing my concerns I was told I was a "sensitive mum" and my baby "looked ok" and was not checked at all. Two weeks later, after a few more serious episodes, the baby was diagnosed with cow's milk protein allergy by a doctor at the local urgent centre and the baby was prescribed specialised formula after which his condition improved. The issue was addressed with the surgery on multiple occasions by me and my partner, but never taken seriously by any members of staff. My GP was changed multiple times within the last 4,5 years and on a few occasions I wasn't even informed of the changes. Park Surgery used to be one of the best in the area, but sadly not anymore.

  5. Review titled Poor service

My son was due to have a medical asked for by the DVLA which he had waited over a month to get . At 9am the morning of the appointment which was at 10.15 , he was phoned , and the appointment was cancelled. He was given an appointment for another three weeks later . He had wasted holiday. I phoned the surgery and explained our frustrations which was met by a very unhelpful receptionist , whose response was if I wasn't happy with the surgery we could always find another . She showed no understanding and was rude .

  6. Review titled An example of great care in difficult circumstances

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 January 2023

The NHS is currently falling to bits but every time I need this surgery they are responsive and kind. The receptionists are professional, I was triaged and called back quickly and my issue today has been sorted in 4 hours. I was dreading having to call but I'm really happy with how I've been treated today.

  7. Review titled Great care!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Abbie Bateman - Posted on 16 February 2023

I don’t often leave reviews but I feel that the staff at the park surgery deserve recognition. When ever I have a medical need, the reception team are friendly and efficient. I often get a same day appointment / advice if the problem needs it. Or I am booked in for a regular appointment if this is more appropriate. The doctors and nurses provide great care and I feel safe in their hands. I feel comfortable and listened to when I see my allocated GP. No problem is to small. Brilliant doctors and service.

  8. Review titled Good medical team, poor administration issues

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 September 2022

The doctor and medical staff are very good, but I submitted a letter signed by my parents giving permission to discuss their cases with myself and my sister, 5 weeks ago, since then I have called twice and been told there is no permission to speak to me and nothing is on the system. Today I called at over an1hour and 30mins ago, I was placed in a queue and was told I was number one in the queue, about 20 mins later I heard the sound of the of the surgery said hello, there was no response and I was placed on hold. I have been on hold for well over an hour now. I have gone from being number one in the queue to missing the chance to try the e consult because it was s noe past 11.30 I wanted to check about my mother receiving the covid vaccine when her platelet level is slightly lowered. I was worried by the receptionist yesterday saying the vaccination service is nothing to do with us, I didn't know if the vaccine had been offered with the info about the platelets. I have mental health issues and am my mothers carer but all the communication issues with this surgery are alot of additional stress. It is now an hour and forty three minutes since I called the surgery and was told I was number one in the queue. I have not spoken to anyone. Don't just tell me to contact the practice managers without providing their contact details.

Dear Anonymous, I am sorry to hear of your experience and I would like the opportunity to investigate this incident to give you a full explanation so please do reconsider contacting the surgery. At The Park Surgery we take patient confidentiality very seriously - it is necessary to have either a LPA for Health and Welfare or written and signed consent form a patient who wishes a person to speak on their behalf or as their proxy, without this, the practice will not release any information pertaining to another individual. I understand from what you have written that you have provided this evidence sometime ago but it appears not to be noted on the patient's record. I cannot explain why this may have happened, or, indeed improve our current processes without investigating and it would be appreciated if you would reconsider contacting us. We also run a Patient Participation Group at the surgery, details of how to join this group are on our patient notice board. They help us to improve services to patients and you may wish to consider this as an alternate route if you do not wish to contact us. Once again we would like to offer our sincerest of apologies and we are available if you would like to discuss this further. Thank you

  9. Review titled Poor service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 June 2022

After being advised by NHS 111 to speak to my GP in the next 2 days. I tried calling park surgery after an hour gave up. Then tried park surgery's E consult and once again was advised to speak to a GP today. So after a further hour finally got through. Asked if a GP could call back. 4 hours later the receptionist phoned back to offer me an appointment mid July over a month away. What had happened to the NHS service?

  10. Review titled Avoid at all costs

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 December 2023

Having had a number of unresolved health issues over a couple of years I again presented myself for an appointment with my GP. During the appointment his attitude could at best be described as indifferent as he reached for keyboard and said he would prescribe some medication. I asked when I should start taking it and he somewhat patronisingly told me that the surgery was up to date, the the prescription would be sent electronically and that by the time I got to the pharmacy it would be ready to pick up. I again asked when I should start to take the medication and he said straight away. I then asked whether I should take the medication whilst I was in hospital. He said that he had not realised I was going into hospital and asked me why I was going. I told him that I was due to undergo surgery the following week. He said he didn't know I was due to have surgery and asked why I was having an operation. I advised that I was due to have surgery as the hospital believed I had bowel cancer. "Oh, I didn't know" he replied. I then told him that the surgeon had written to him and that I had also received copies of the letters that he had been sent by the Consultant. He replied that he was too busy to read all of the correspondence that he received but that now he knew, he recommended that I shouldn't take the medication until after I had left the hospital. Quite apart from the GP's indifference which I found astounding, surely the way in which correspondence is processed should be addressed. Simply having admin staff dumping emails into patient files or scanning and loading them into files is not an acceptable process if the doctor doesn't read them. If allowed to continue, it is only a matter of time before someone is seriously hurt or worse.
