Receptionist badly needs training on how to communicate with their patients. You never get an appointment when you call. They tell you to call at 8:30 am and make you wait 10 min to tell you all their appointments has gone. They ask you to call back at 2:30pm. When you call back the same process of waiting then you are told no appointment left and to call back tomorrow. When you try to book an appointment for a next day or week, they will tell you can't book appointment in advance. I wonder if this review will make any difference too as other reviews seems to be ignored. Very disappointed with this local GP and Staff.

Dear Patient, We appreciate your feedback and have taken your concerns into consideration. We wanted to inform you of an important update regarding our services. In accordance with NHS England guidelines, our surgery will be transitioning to a full online triaging system in the coming months. This means that we will no longer be scheduling appointments over the phone. Instead, all requests, including prescriptions, will need to be submitted via the NHS app or online using our website. We believe that this change will improve the efficiency of our services and allow us to better meet our patient's healthcare needs. We understand that this may be a new process for some of our patients, but we're here to support every step of the way. Our online system and the NHS App are user-friendly and convenient. For those patient’s who don't have access to smart phones or PC’s our team will be able to assist with submitting a form if needed. If you have any questions or concerns about this transition, please don't hesitate to contact us. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work to provide you with the best possible care.

Terrible GP practice. I have only been registered with the practice for the last two years after moving out of area from my last GP. I have never had a good service, you can never get an appointment, you have to call at 8:30 for an appt (even telephone appts) and then if you don’t get a slot you have to call at 2:30. If you don’t get an appt you have to call the following day. It’s an ongoing issue. I am currently pregnant, with no access to a GP. Our last appointment with the GP also misdiagnosed my toddlers consistent rash and the whole family were asked to take medication, I called the doctor back as my partner took my toddler to the appt, to ask whether it was ok for pregnant women to take. He said ‘I don’t really know, I’m googling it but it doesn’t really say much so just take it’. I have absolutely zero confidence in the GPs here and that’s even if you get an appointment. The reception staff also have no empathy and no telephone manner, they are abrupt and standoffish. I have recently tried to register with another GP practice to be anywhere but with Thorkhill. Do not use.

We were on the phone first thing in the morning for 2 days and we were one of the first in the queue. However every day we were told that everything is booked up and there is no posibility to see a GP at this practice.

As a new patient at Thorkhill my first visit has been excellent. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly and the GP kind, caring and approachable. The telephone system is a bit of a nightmare but I was offered a face to face appointment when I booked direct at the surgery.

Trying to use the callback system, twice today the return call happened after an hour or so but each time with my phone to hand, I answered within 2-3 seconds but it rang off. This is so frustrating and does not help my blood pressure which is the subject of my call in the first place. Please sort this as I am finding it impossible to contact you.

Have just called to book an appointment with a doctor - this is the end of November and was told there is nothing available before Christmas....really?!!!

Excellent service - calls are answered and returned, I have been seen in person at short notice, doctors have called me with results (rather than me chasing) and I have had good consultations.
