  1. Review titled Almost impossible to make an appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

I am fully aware of the pressure that the NHS is under and do not wish to bother them with minor, temporary complaints. However, I am now in my sixties and suffer from two co-morbidities which will probably shorten my life. I have not seen my GP for two years, nor have I had what was supposed to be an annual blood test in that time. My medication should have been reviewed almost a year ago, but that hasn't happened, either and I need to make an appointment to discuss these matters, along with a couple of persistent ailments, which I believe may be related to my pre-existing medical condition. The reception at this practice refuse point blank, to allow me to make an appointment over the 'phone or in person, insisting that I can only do so online; but when I try to do that, I get a message on the screen saying that no online bookings are available. When I pointed this out, I was told that appointments are limited in number and I must try first thing in the morning, at a time when I am normally driving to work. When I complain that this is unacceptable, I am told that, "it's just the new system and that's the way it works." There are no exceptions, no alternatives and no compassion. I feel like I am being made to enter a lottery, in order to get a simple appointment with a GP - a situation which is causing me stress and anxiety, as I apparently have no recourse.

  2. Review titled Dreadful service

Rated 1 star out of 5

I find it harder to get an appointment with my GP than with the Pope. My family and I have constantly tried to get an emergency appointment with a doctor, today, yet again, we got through to the surgery at 2.00 clock to be told all the appointments have been taken, how can this happen? We were advised to e-consult but the last time we did this the advice we were given was to call the surgery. I feel that this surgery is doing its utmost to push patients to A & E rather than deal with the problem themselves, we never had this issue before Covid so why is it so difficult now? I used to rave about how good the surgery was and how everybody within the practice was working so hard for the patients but I cannot honestly say I feel this way now. I have left my name on this review which will probably mean that I will get struck off of the patient list but unless we make our feelings known then nothing is ever going to change.

  3. Review titled Poor Patient Management

Rated 1 star out of 5

I've been a patient at this surgery for many years. I appreciate how challenging recent times have been for the NHS. My Doctor has always been a great GP for my family and is an assist to the surgery and the NHS. The way I was dealt with this morning by the Practice Manager was shocking! I went down to the surgery to try and make an emergency appointment. I tried to call previously at the time specified to get to see The Doctor and was unsuccessful. I was unaware that you could no longer go down to the surgery to make an appointment. Therefore I called the reception (from the same room) then got through and got told to hold the line by the receptionist, then for the line to get cut off! I stressed this to the reception and Practice Manager and once again despite being in the same room got told to phone back! I then got through to then initially be told their receptionist there no appointments. She then said there was a slot available thankfully. I was waiting outside the surgery before they opened. The Practice Manager even saw I was waiting after she had stepped out of her car and entered the surgery. At no point was it mentioned until I walked in they don't do walk in appointments. I understand they have a process to follow and also as a Manager the public can be tricky to deal with but at the same time had a little common sense / empathy be shown then what became a stressful situation could have been prevented. I don't want to go to the Doctors if I don't have to. I also don't want to go to A and E and add to their burden but when you're in pain you just want to be seen and get it sorted. Also, if you're someone that suffers from mental health issues that might need help there's also a better way to deal with people too. I want to add the receptionist I spoke to was friendly. I admit i was frustrated but wasn't rude or abusive to anyone. Even when I asked to take the name of Practice Manager she continued to be rude/smug when I was speaking to the lady that confirmed my appointment she came back to talk to me even when I stated that I didn't wish to. I will look forward to discussing the matter with my usual GP when possible.
