  2. Review titled Restricted Access

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Sam Bean - Posted on 07 March 2023

I think you are restricting peoples access & right to care if certain appointments & services are restricted to only one practice, especially if there is the additional issues with transport. You will find people less willing to access support with these restrictions causing people to suffer, their condition to worsen, to miss important health checks leading to them to eventually requiring possible hospital treatment snailing up the system unnecessarily when they could have be treated quickly at their medical practice if they were more flexible.

  3. Review titled Practice Website

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I was looking for up to date news about the practice . It appears that the latest Liaison Newsletter available is Winter 2021. Can this be correct? I understand it might be delayed, but a short message explaining why would be helpful.

  5. Review titled Keeping up to date

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Stephen Hardman - Posted on 21 September 2022

Having each received text invitations from the NHS I rang our practice yesterday to arrange Covid booster and yearly flu vaccinations for myself and my wife. My wife is over 75. I am just under 75. I was aware that Covid boosters were at first being offered to the over 75s, so before ringing the practice I checked the NHS on line to make sure I was eligible for a Covid booster. I was, as the NHS had lowered the age band to 65 a week previously. I deliberately didn`t ring early as it was a non- urgent request. I rang about noon, to be told I was 29 in the queue. I held for 5 minutes which got me down to 26, so I requested ring back. They telephoned back about 50 minutes later. These times are approximate. The person I spoke to would not give me an appointment, insisting that I had to be 75 for a covid booster. She was very pleasant, but according to the practice directives I was not ticking the right boxes. I insisted, and explained all the above. She asked me to hold. After a long wait she came back, having found out that I was eligible. She made the appointment. This is just a minor irritation, having wasted about 30 minutes on the phone in getting through and speaking, but it is also a worrying example of no proper liaison between the NHS and their GP practices, and/or inefficient training at the practice. Having been a patient of this practice for about 18 years I can vouch for a history of kind, efficient and caring service, but since lockdown it seems that systems are now in place that make it much harder to both see a doctor or deal with a problem, and particularly in having continuity of care from one particular doctor. This, in my view, is a very retrograde step. My father was a GP, so I grew up in a doctor`s house. Even then, with the NHS in its infancy, it was a busy practice, with huge surgeries and many at home visits. Somehow the practice managed to give a personal service. I`m sure there are many differences today, so harking back to the 1950s, 60s and 70s is of limited value, but I suspect much of the attraction in the fictional "Meet the midwife" is a nostalgic look back at how it used to be. So this is my request that someone (a practice manager?) keeps on top of changing regulations and keeps the staff up to date, and that normal pre-Covid service is resumed as soon as possible. And finally, the recorded telephone announcement when one rings in, is now out out date and inappropriate, and needs redoing.

Apologies for the delay in responding but this has been due to a change in practice management and enabling access for the new manager. Thank you for the review placed and highlighting some concerns and thoughts. Regarding the covid vaccination programme, as you may be aware it is a busy practice and also the covid vaccine programme is quite a huge number of patients involved. To ensure we capture everyone that is eligible we have to work in sections and used age as a margin. This may have caused confusion, so we apologise for this. Regarding the telephone we are currently working with our telephone provider to improve the service for our patients, we have introduced a call back facility to limit the amount of time you wait in the queue "holding on" which has had positive feedback. We continue to work with our telephone provider.

I have had highly effective, professional physio treatment at this practice delivered by Mr C Jayes. Mr Jayes is knowledgeable , plus great at explaining and illustrating. He understood my difficulties throughout, successfully pinpointed my problem, and provided appropriate and progressive exercises. Thank you so much for great treatment with long and lasting results.
