  1. Review titled Lack of inclusive practice

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 December 2023

I think your admin team really need some training on inclusion and adaption. Incident One - When I last visited the surgery, a young man who did not speak very good English visited the surgery. The receptionist was extremely ignorant and rude and getting cross that she could not communicate with him. He was at the wrong surgery, and it took another patient to intercept and walk him over there to show him the way, whilst the receptionist did nothing! I could not believe my eyes. Incident Two - Yesterday, another receptionist tried to communicate with a man with significant hearing loss. Again, this receptionist was patronising, and antagonistic in the end. The poor man had to write down his request in the end, which was actually very simple. Incident Three - Whilst awaiting my appointment, a man brought his young grandson into the surgery who had a bad cough. He explained he had been to the Pharmacy who said he needs to see a GP. The man had to return twice as the receptionist asked him to fill in the wrong forms. Then when the man had left, I heard her explain the situation to her manager who then said the surgery were not going to see this child and to turn him away and get him to call his own GP miles away - it was a small child who likely had asthma (so the Pharmacy guessed)!! Absolutely outrageous and all three of these incidences have made me feel extremely uncomfortable.

  2. Review titled Awful communication

Rated 1 star out of 5

The doctor pushed me to private service for my allergy tests and also said to me that I need to go to Ukraine to do these tests when she asked me where I am from. The doctor said that NHS can’t do any food allergy tests , although after my appointment I checked the NHS official website and it is saying that there are 3 types of food allergy tests every GP should offer their patients if a patient feels there is a need for this.

  5. Review titled Good service

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 25 March 2023

I have no complaints about the service level received. I was seen promptly on arrival and the practitioner I saw (but apparently not allowed to name?) was friendly, caring, and informative about my condition and how it would be dealt with - initially in my case by a referral to a specialist. Being critical, it is unfortunate that it is hard to get an appointment (especially at short notice) in the first place and, for those of us who are tech dinosaurs, being asked to send a photo and then discuss the matter via webcam is not a viable option.

  6. Review titled Appalling treatment

Rated 1 star out of 5

As a diabetic who diabetes has been incredibly unstable for the last 10 weeks without reason. I have tried for the last 10 weeks to get an appointment I have rung and been refused an appointment, I have gone in and been refused appointments. I urgently need a follow up blood test and have been refused a blood test. If I go blind or a lose a leg is the surgery responsible because they won't see me. The receptionist who are in know way medically qualified are making dangerous medical decisions about people's health. The phone lines are horrific everyone rings at 8am you can press redial 70-80 times to get hold of anyone to be told no one will see you today. This practice needs a serious review how it treats patients with long term health conditions, how receptionist refuse appointments and the appalling lack of patients care.

Dear patient, Thank you for giving us the opportunity to explain how the system works. Our reception team have extensive training on when it is necessary to advise A+E attendance. 111 can add patients to a list for a call back. We have checked the list. Everyone has been contacted. Best Wishes, Hailsham Medical Group

Attended an appointment with my husband who has dementia, was told the dementia nurse and the incontinence nurse would phone, but still no call. While waiting on the phone , to ask why my husbands prescription has not been done,I was constantly asked if I am carer as you can support me. I am one ,have filled in your form but receive no support,no help at all.

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback. The dementia nurse and incontinence nurse are not part of our GP service, so we do not have any input into when they call. If you need support as a carer, please ask the receptionist to contact the social prescriber, care coordinator or carers lead, who can all help you obtain the support from services that you need.

We have staff members answering the phones all day from 8am to 630pm except for a short break in the middle of the day. To say the phone is never answered is simply not true.
