  1. Review titled You want an appointment... Really!

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Mr LessThan Impressed - Posted on 25 March 2024

So, after a recent interaction with one of the GPs , I had to see a nurse and then arrange a follow-up GPs appointment 'a few weeks after to assess the outcome of the nurses treatment'. So far, so good. Saw one of the nurses and then tried to book the follow-up GP appointment... it was a firm No. Receptionist could not book any appointments - I would need to phone in the following day at 09:00 to do this. So did as told - phoned in on yhe dot of 09:00 only to be told - no, no appointments were available! Tried to explain I needed to book said appointment at the bequest of the GP for a couple of weeks time but it was a firm... No, I would need to call the following day as soon as they opened to try to bag an available slot! So... if you really need an appointment, be prepared to play Russian Roulette to get one and to be fobbed off by a disinterested and uncaring individual. Hope you have better luck than I if you too are after an appointment.?

Dear Patient, Thank you for this feedback. As the manager at Warmdene, I sincerely apologise for any frustrations you have experienced trying to book an appointment. In this instance I am surprised that The GP did not book an appointment for you at the time that they advised you a follow up appointment was required. They can also instruct receptionist to do this on their behalf. Generally speaking, we must always endeavour to provide safe working arrangements for our clinicians and unfortunately that means that the availability of appointments is limited and capped and staff are only able to offer available appointments. I wish to reassure you that we do have some additional capacity via other specialists that may be appropriate to some patients needs, such as the community pharmacy service, first contact physiotherapist or our pharmacists, but unfortunately these options may not always be appropriate and capacity can be reached very quickly. Regrettably this is an increasingly common problem throughout the NHS and it is not unique to Warmdene surgery.

  2. Review titled Brilliantly led practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 September 2022

Having been to a handful of GP practices over the years, it is clear this one has got things right. I have previously not had much hope or high expectations for great care by GP surgeries based on previous experience and I was so blown away and pleasantly surprised at how efficient, caring and helpful everyone I have come into contact with have been. The receptionist team work very hard and do a great job juggling everything whilst also exuding calmness and professionalism. I have seen 3 doctors, 2 of whom have been excellent. Listened and took action to investigate some pretty scary and serious symptoms. I'm so relieved to be treated as an individual. I didn't feel rushed or dismissed like I have done previously and I'm now on my way to a clear diagnosis and treatment plan. I just want to say thank you so much to everyone who works so hard, reviewing processes and implementing new ways ot working to provide such an excellent service to patients. Thank you thank you thank you. Keep going. You are so appreciated!

Dear patient. It is very pleasing to receive such feedback. Whilst we realise we cannot satisfy every person as much as we would like, we are certainly keen to review and improve services whenever possible, and to implement efficiencies and improvements for the benefit of our patients . Your very positive feedback is vindication that our efforts are being recognised by our patients. Thank you.

  3. Review titled Refused to Issue Insulin

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 June 2023

Requested a script a week before collection, however upon collection, they had provided the wrong insulin in cartridge form with no needles or a carrier for the insulin! Pharmacy were perplexed and confused. Had to order in usual insulin and wouldn’t be available for a few days. Surgery didn’t know when script could be provided as no doctor available and my husband would be without insulin for the weekend. We were due to go away which we had to cancel and had to visit the hospital for insulin instead.

  4. Review titled Misleading threatening text from surgery

Rated 2 stars out of 5

    by C Millar - Posted on 26 April 2022

Recently received a text from this surgery informing me of an 'out of the blue' phone call I would be getting in a few days to discuss my current medication. Nothing out of the ordinary until the last sentence telling me that if I failed to discuss this matter with the doctor calling me then my medication would be cut or stopped all together! I ask you... a threatening text out of the blue with wording that simply alarms and threatens you if you fail to take their call? Whilst I realise resources are stretched at this surgery and ever second sentence you get when actually seeing a GP is 'cost's ... everything cost's, our budget is stretched' ... if you chose to not bother them and just manage your condition by way of medication and outside resources such as the MSK service your treated like this. Threatened!!! And they wonder why they get more negative feedback than positive.

Dear patient, I was really saddened to read your message and I apologise for any problems or distress that it may have caused you. Thank you for your timely feedback. I can assure you that the text was never intended to be threatening in any way. We reviewed the content with the clinician and made recommendations and changes to ensure that the wording is much clearer and fairer for the future. Thank you.
