Every time I have attended Highwoods Surgery, I have experienced first-class treatment from the Doctors, Nurses & Reception staff. I could not ask for better.

  2. Review titled Five Star Surgery

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have been with this practice for over thirty years and continue with them because I feel happy and safe under their care. In my opinion all the staff here are exceptional. I have a good relationship with the reception staff, they always do their best to get me an appointment, they are a good bunch of people and will always give you time as long as they are treated with respect and that doesn't always happen. The nurses are always so caring and put you at ease, always willing to listen and give advice when they can. As for the doctors, they are lovely and have had to work in difficult circumstances since Covid, we would all like things to return to normal, but it's not going to happen and therefore being a patient patient is the only way forward if you want good experiences. I have an Incident I'd like to share which may help someone new to the area choose the right Surgery. One evening a few weeks ago I had what I thought was a very bad attack of indigestion which I took medication for and thought no more about it once the pain had subsided. The next day as fate would have it, the Surgery phoned and asked if I'd like to accept a cancellation for a small procedure I was due to have which of course I accepted. Whilst in the Surgery I experienced more pain and the doctor noticed my breathing wasn't normal and listened intently while I explained what had been happening. He apologised he couldn't do the procedure and instead I had an ECG, his concern was palpable and he kept me very calm. My husband picked me up as an ambulance would have taken too long and I went to A&E with a letter from my doctor highlighting chest pains and was diagnosed with a heart attack. The hospital said it was my quick thinking doctor who saved the day, otherwise I may not be writing this review. Once out of hospital, my doctor saw me again and explained all the medication I was taking and gave me tons of reassurance not rushing me at all. What can I say but having just recently met this doctor who is the most professional, caring, chatty when he needs to be and fun putting me at ease in a stressful situation, he is a doctor I would trust with my life. Anyone joining this practice and anyone who is already with them, should consider themselves lucky to have such a good team of professionals under one roof.

  3. Review titled Practice has drastically gone down hill

Apart from one member of the reception staff, I have found them unhelpful. Today 25/04/22 I went to pick my prescription up from Asda only to be told they hadn’t received it, even though it was supposed to have been sent straight over (2weeks ago)with measurements of my leg for a compression sock, which the doctor I saw previously said I needed sooner rather than later. The receptionist checked the computer and said the nurse hadn’t sent the prescription with measurements over to Asda. I asked what happens now, receptionist just said hopefully the nurse will phone me. I asked if I would have to wait yet another 10/14 days till I could actually get the compression stocking, she didn’t know …. I am in considerable pain as I have thrombophlebitis and needed this 2 weeks ago… I have been registered at this practice for over 30 years and it has changed so much and not for the better. I definitely would not recommend this practice..
