I came to have a blood test. Seamless check in, was seen ahead of time and the health practitioner was the best I have ever experienced at retrieving my blood…all with a smile, care, gentleness. Thank you to each and every one of you at the practice - you make a difference every day.

  2. Review titled Good Practice - but failed on this day

Rated 4 stars out of 5

telephoned surgery at 13.52 on Friday 28th April which was answered 15 minutes later by a receptionist. Explained the problem she asked for date of birth which was given, no confirmation of patients name was given which I found unusual and could have been ambiguous. She told me a doctor would call back. I asked did she have the number she repeated it back to me which was our landline and I reiterated yes that's the one, please have the call returned on the landline as I am speaking on behalf of my husband. At 18.11 still no call back and I called the surgery and recognised the voice of the receptionist and said "I recognise your voice I spoke to you earlier concerning ......" she claims she didn't remember speaking to me and I had to jog her memory and she called to someone in the background and said the doctor will call you soon. This never happened but my husband checked his mobile - which was malfunctioning - hence the request for a landline call - and found that the doctor had left text messages referring him to "patches" and also a "picture" - what is this all about - what is "patches"why not a simple telephone call. Doctors don't seem to want to do face to face and now they don't want to do telephone consultations. Very disappointing especially the cavalier attitude adopted by the receptionist most of whom I've always found to be very professional and helpful but unfortunately not on this occasion . It was a bank holiday weekend and I accept that the telephone system was very busy but please get the message correct and pass it on to the appropriate doctor . Not everybody has access to a computer or is indeed tech savvy . Digitals are not always reliable and can crash at anytime, the requested telephone call would have solved the problem. In my dealings with the Practice which is normally so well run and professional it was a stressful and disappointing outcome.

Dear Patient Thank you for taking the time to write such detailed feedback and we’re glad that you usually have a good experience here at the practice. We do try our best to provide a high standard of care. As you say, we do try to call patients back quickly and often receive good feedback about this. I’m sorry that on this occasion your request to be called back on the landline was not done; sometimes this is because patients have a preferred method of contact on their clinical notes and this is the number that we would use in the first instance. Our reception staff are incredibly busy and over the course of a day they will be dealing with hundreds of patients. To decrease the waiting time on the phone we encourage patients to use Patchs. Leaving a detailed message via Patchs enables us to deal with the request more efficiently which patients are grateful for. Although we encourage the use of Patchs/digital front door we continue to take messages over the phone and in person. If patients or the GPs want a face to face appointment, then this almost always happens and again if this request is put through on Patchs then an appointment can be made without the need for the patient to call reception and wait on the phone. We would still ask for a detailed message as sometimes we can deal with certain problems over the phone. It is not true that we do not want to see people face to face and continue to see a large number of patients in person. As people are busy, we often have the problem that when we try to return their calls, patients do not pick up their phones and so sometimes it is easier to email them back. I apologise that you were not called back on the landline. If you would like us to investigate this further then please leave your details with the practice manager, Sharon Ryan.

Quick and effective attention for a wound I made in my leg after a football injury. St Johns Wood Medical Practice contacted me the same day I made the enquiry and booked an appointment.

  4. Review titled Efficient Practice

Practice uses the Patches system which is very efficient and helpful especially when working during the week. The system is particularly helpful in providing an overview of the topic, confirming availability for call backs and appointments. Practice was very responsive, appointment scheduled in 24 hours. Would highly recommend.

Thank you for this positive feedback. We try very hard to be efficient and offer as good a service as we can so it is lovely to receive this and know that digital access via Patchs is working so well.

I had what for me was a very urgent query about the possible reaction of medications. I phoned in at about 5pm and by 6.30pm received a phone call that sorted the problem completely. I am ovrwhelmed that in these difficult times I am so lucky as to be with this practice. Thank you Dr Kaufman, reception and all the kind and patient staff.

I recently had to attend the practice to have quite a difficult conversation regarding my health. The doctor I saw was so calm, kind and helpful that it really gave me confidence in my ability to decide the best option for me. Highly recommend this practice.

  7. Review titled Great practice and its good practises

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have always found the gps helpful and pleasant but to have a text sent to me when I left a message about having tested positive for covid is both kind and extreme;y helpful. Feeling very miserable about a new positive test result only 4 months after being extremely ill with my first attack I left a message for my GP that it had started again. That afternoon I received a text which expressed sympathy and good wishes for a full and speedy recovery from my GP . A thoughtful helpful thing to do in these strange times where all we hear is that our gps dont care for us in many obvious and some unseen ways. I am happy to report his good wishes worked. I feel so lucky to be a patient of this practise,

  8. Review titled Refusal of medication

Rated 1 star out of 5

I was refused a prescription yesterday and was told to go to the chemist. I am living on benefits, which dont cover my cost of living, but do allow me free prescriptions. The text I recieved was rude. I emailed the practise manager and have heard nothing back. So.. how do I get the medication I need, when I havent the money for it?

Thank you for using NHS choices to reach out to the practice. I have not received an email from a patient regarding medication. If you would like me to look into this please contact me at the practice. Please note that a GP will not generally give you a prescription for certain medications that are available to buy in a pharmacy or supermarket, even if you qualify or free prescriptions.
