  1. Review titled Triage system difficult for workers

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Concerned patient - Posted on 24 April 2024

I have been with my GP practice since the 1990s so I've seen it change from a lovely family practice where we knew the GPs and they knew and cared about us. There was a very low point where the practice seemed to be staffed by locum doctors, but recently there has been greater consistency and I have been happy with the support I've received. Last year I was fortunate to be invited in for face to face consultations, which I really appreciated. The problem is the new triage form, which I used for the first time last week. I had taken a day off work without pay expecting that if, as usual, I phoned at 8am I would be offered a phone consultation that day. When I called I was directed to the online triage form, and I was disappointed to see that the form states that a doctor will review the form 'within two working days'. I have since been texted with a day when a GP will phone me, and told to keep my phone on all day. Problem - I work in a job where I'm not allowed to use my phone, except for half an hour at lunchtime. My employer makes it clear that since we work from 8am to 3.30pm, that leaves enough time after work to make medical appointments in our own time, we shouldn't take time off except in emergencies. I could take another day off without pay but if I did, it would reflect poorly on my reliability at work. So, as I've said in feedback to my GP practice, how can working people access GP support using the triage system?

  2. Review titled Impossible to get appointments or advice

Rated 1 star out of 5

The online function - advertised as available from 9.00am to 1.00pm was accepting no further input from 9.04am due to “exceptional demand”. The exceptional demand seems to be a daily occurence. For the second time, the first being when my wife was unable to get an appointment for 2 weeks when she needed antibiotics, I went private to get a same day appointment elsewhere - is a NI refund available for a complete absence of service?

  3. Review titled Shocking service

Rated 1 star out of 5

For the last few months I’ve had to use this service & it’s truly shocking. What a painful experience it is to try book an appointment, get meds, query treatment. If you’ve something that doesn’t fit the options good luck trying to get that resolved. I’ve been waiting nearly 2 weeks to get a GP to complete 1 section of a form that will through my works insurance get me free treatment. One of the reasons I’ve had to go down this route is because of the waiting lists on the NHS. What a joke!

  4. Review titled Rubbish practice

We belong to the South Lewisham Group Practice now under Modality. My mother is elderly, it's proved very hard to get an appointment for medication review, test results. Recently after her medication ran out and going into a bank holiday, it's for blood pressure, reception staff criteria:- fob everyone off, lie, give information that they are not qualified for. Doctors that are unreachable unless they are calling you. Modality services seemed to have appeared on the scene to destabilise GP care within the NHS.

  5. Review titled Cannot get an Appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Jack - Posted on 14 March 2024

Following an MRI scan on 9 February 24 I am still finding it impossible on 14 March 24 to get an appointment to discuss the results. There seems to be some kind of allocation system and every time I eventually get through on the telephone I am told to try again the next day or the next week. Something is very wrong at Modality, Ship Street East Grinstead, and it needs investigation. This abysmal state of affairs was not the case before Modality took over the practice.

  6. Review titled Modality fails patients

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by Mark G - Posted on 21 February 2024

Ever since Modality changed the working practice at my gp practice, I can honestly say that I feel failed as a patient. The form that we are asked to fill in for our surgery (before we are triaged) is bonkers. A lot of the time it doesn't even cover the part of the body affected e.g. the gp surgery asked me to book an appointment through the form to discuss blood tests results, and there was no obvious way to do it. So what do you do? Secondly the form is only available from 8am-12pm & 2-4pm - So during everyone else's working hours. Then today, when I went to complete the form at just before 3pm...unavailable again until tomorrow morning. Why? Who knows? I spoke with the operations manager yesterday. She failed to answer my concerns about the stupidity of the form (I have been in my gp surgery and heard 2 other people complaining about the form as well). On top of that, I was not impressed with how I was dealt with. It's hard enough to get a GP appointment. Modality are making it even harder. It's no wonder that patients just turn up at a&e. Ps. This review has been submitted but not gone through because it says I've included workds that are all in capital letters...what like gp and a&e. More bonkersness!

  7. Review titled unprofessional

i was referred for a lower abdomen ultrasound. after waiting for six months, i finally got my chance to get the scan done. when I reached the centre (nishkam pharmacy on soho road, twenty-fourth february at ten), i was told there will be an ultrasound scan as well as an intravaginal scan. i asked for some time to think about it. the lady who was doing my scan kept saying 'you don't have to do it, you don't have to do it'. when she started doing my ultrasound in the mean time, she said my bladder should have been more full. i said I can wait for a few minutes while she attends to other patients but she said she will not do that. she also said I should not have had coffee before coming for my scan. there was no mention of that in the text message i was sent before the scan. i begged her to give me some time as i was worried about my health and waited 6 months for my scan. cruelly, she turned me away. when i asked her to do my intra vaginal scan atleast, she said she had closed the screen and could not go back to it. what kind of service is this? aren't you supposed to be a little empathetic towards the patients? when i contacted Nishkam later, they asked me to write to you guys. i am a tax paying citizen of this country and i expected better. her behaviour was so crushing for my pride that i am forced to write this. i request you to investigate this and let me know if i have to wait another six months for my scan.

  8. Review titled Useless. Cannot get appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 February 2024

82 attempts to get through on the telephone between 8-8.20am. Visited practice to make appointment, was told I was unable to do this and needed to call. Explained how many times I had called, receptionist shrugged shoulders, asked for an emergency appointment as in agony, told no. Can i make appointment for tomorrow, again told no! I asked how I get an appointment, told to call. Again stated I had called 82 times, receptionist told me how do i expect her to answer the phone and do her computer work!

Turned up for my first diabetic review at my local Haworth practice having been transferred back to GP care by the specialist nurse from Airedale Hospital, only to be told after 10 minutes that I should be in Skipton!

  10. Review titled Disgusting Service

Rated 1 star out of 5

2years ago missed diagnosed for diabetes. 8 weeks ago confirmed diagnoses but still waiting for an appointment. Complained twice requested appointment 3 times cannot get any response. Not 1st time this has happened at present waiting on diabetes and angina appointments, not trivial ailments.
