    I joined the practice a few months ago and hoped to be seen for a review, particularly given my age (68). I had issues getting online services due to misinformation from reception staff (who were all lovely on interaction). I was finally given an appointment for a phone review by a pharmacist for 15.03.24. Nobody called. I then received a call the following week, but couldn’t answer due to being at work. I called the surgery to explain the situation, and was told that I would be contacted for another phone review to take place in the following 2 weeks. There was no apology for not calling me when I was waiting for the initial phone review. It has left me disappointed and despondent with the service and lack of care or communication regarding my physical health. It has left me feeling that I have made a massive error in joining your practice. I have not made another appointment for a phone review because I can’t see the point after the above experience that I encountered.

  2. Review titled Online service is a game changer

    I needed a prescription sent to an out of Sheffield pharmacy. Excellent service. Being able to use an online form to make requests with timely responses is a real game-changer.

  3. Review titled 27 min in the phone, no answer

    I have been waiting 27 min at the phone, after chasing to get medical care for 2 weeks,.... I am the 9th on the phone, they answered to other 8 people, still I wait for 5 minutes on top of the 8 people before me, and do not get any answer yet!!! How is this possible?!!! You really should not treat like this sick and ill people. And I find it deeply unethical how we are treated as patience's, more and more often.... Actually it become ls a constant!!!!

    Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I am sorry to hear of the issues you have encountered with regards to the telephone wait times. We are experiencing a vast increase in demand on our services and our reception team work exceptionally hard to answer calls in a time effective manner, but due to the often complex nature of calls, this can result in patients experiencing longer than desired wait times on the telephone. Unfortunately, when it notifies you of your queue position, this is for the external call queue, there is then an internal call queue of a further 8 patients, hence, why there is a wait time to speak to our team after you are notified you are first in the queue.     The GPs, healthcare staff and receptionists are always empathetic, professional and provide excellent care given the constraints on their time. Any gaps can usually be filled by accessing records etc. online and by individuals taking some responsibility for their own health and well-being, leaving staff time to support those who aren’t able to do this.

  5. Review titled Charged to sit in the phone queue for over an hour

    I made 2 attempts to make an urgent appointment by phone, with epic waits in the queue of over an hour in total. Somehow those calls from a Sheffield landline to another Sheffield landline cost me £12. Patients should be warned how much it could cost them if they actually need to talk to this surgery. The surgery will tell you there is an online form contact option instead, but it is closed most of the time (even during hours the surgery itself is open) and I've recently been waiting over 5 days for them to reply within 24 hours that they promise.

    Thank you for taking the time to leave a review about Woodseats Medical Centre. I am sorry to hear of the issues you have encountered when trying to contact us. We are facing unprescedented levels of contact from patients, which may result in a delay with speaking to our team. We are recruiting for additional capacity to try and help with this. Starting from Monday 5th June 2023, all appointments for acute or follow up appointments at our practice required patients to use the AccuRx platform to request appointments with a clinician where you will be asked a short series of questions relating to your medical concern. This form is accessible between 7am – 12pm on weekdays. We are unable to deal with requests outside of this timeframe. These requests will then be reviewed by a clinician within 24 hours and you will receive an outcome, which will usually come via the form of a text message which may contain a link to self book the appropriate appointment within a specified timeframe. You may be directed to other appropriate services. This offers a convenient and efficient way for you to select a suitable appointment time within the triaged date range for your specific medical request. If you have experienced wait times of 5 days for a response following a submission as above, please contact us via telephone or email on: syicb-sheffield.woodseatsmedicalcentre@nhs.net so we can report this to the providers and request an investigation be conducted into this as our response time for appointment requests are conducted within 24 hours.

    All health services feel under pressure, and it feels nerve wracking going for an appointment and wondering if you will get the care you need. The GP was warm and interested- she really cared. She explained her treatment plan clearly, and she managed unexpected information carefully.

    3 times my husband had to query his appointment. First they got they day and date wrong so he went to the surgery to correct it. Then it was meant to be a doctor ringing and he got a text message saying the appointment was at the surgery. Again he went down to query it and the receptionist said the text was wrong and it was a phone appointment on 4th April at 8.50. So today 3rd April he got yet another text message to confirm his appointment at the surgery at 8.45!! I sent an email querying it again but got no answer so he tried ringing only to get a message that lines were closed for staff training. I can only think it must be reception training! I told him to leave it now and see if he gets a phone call in the morning. How many times has he got to query an appointment that your reception has made! A waste of his time and yours. Get your receptionist to send out the correct text messages.

Our appointment reminders are generic and automatically sent from the system, they should stipulate 'Please take note when you book the appointment whether this will be a face to face appointment or via telephone as appointment reminders are generic.' If you have access to your online records, you should also be able to see the appointments that are booked in. Please note as per our automated response, it can take up to 3 working days for a response where required.     Receptionists have repeatedly shown incompetence and a general lack of assistance. On numerous occasions when trying to sort out important medication, even after promising to fulfil a task they have failed to do so. I have no faith in them or the practice. What has happened to helpful receptionists and getting to see a GP ?

    I have always had a positive experience at Woodseats Medical Centre. The support I had at my most recent appointment was outstanding. The individual went above and beyond and I really appreciate it.

    I would like to say that repeatedly you have to wait long terms to get your consultations scheduled and done because doctors have no availability. So there are no doctors available! Also meanwhile scheduling an appointment you have very long waiting periods at the phone, like 20 min plus! A lot for just one scheduling process! I am very upset about these things.

I am sorry you are not happy with the appointment system, we operate on a triage system from 08:30am, where initially, a clinician will contact you via telephone to discuss your concerns and where necessary, book a face to face appointment or further telephone consultation. Due to the increased demand on GP services, we may, at times advise appropriate alternative services. Alternatively, if you wish to request a non-urgent triage appointment, you can visit this website link: https://florey.accurx.com/p/C88041and complete a questionnaire regarding your symptoms, you will then receive a text within 2 working days to notify you of the outcome of your request. This service is for non-urgent matters only as appointments may be booked up to two weeks in advance. Unfortunately, we are an exceptionally busy Practice so you may experience a wait on the phone, our team work hard to try and answer calls in a efficient manner.
