    I was asked to return the call of a member of the gp surgery staff but was unable to get through. The automated message informed me the surgery had reached safe working capacity for the day, and to call the next day. Fair enough, but as the next day was Saturday and we were heading into a bank holiday then I was unable to return the call for some time. Are staff aware of these difficulties when they leave a return call request. Why aren't staff able to leave an alternative means of telephone number for a return of calls? Otherwise the staff and service is excellent.

    Following your feedback we have updated the message to advise patients to call back on the next working day. Every effort is made to contact patients and clinical staff will try a few times before requesting that patients call the surgery back. We are aware of the demand placed on the telephone system. Therefore, the practice have dedicated staff just answering the phone to help improve the response times and keep the call queue lengths down to enable patients to be able to call back.
