  1. Review titled Excellent care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by James Snell - Posted on 04 October 2023

The team are caring and considerate to your needs and recently supported my partner once again who suffers with extreme anxiety. Arranging for the flu jab to be given at the surgery to avoid crowds at The Franklin Hall. So much negativity is being directed towards the NHS at the moment so it is reassuring that Spilsby Surgery is maintaining constant care, support and consideration. Thank you.

  2. Review titled No issues, friendly and efficient

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I moved to this area over a year ago and registered with Spilsby, my nearest practice. I'm not a "regular" at the surgery but all interactions and visits here have been faultless. Direct contact when needed either by phone or in person has been pleasant and efficient.

  3. Review titled Really poor and unacceptable level of care

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 January 2023

I was refused a doctor by the receptionist when I had a nasty chest infection and referred to the pharmacist. The referral wasn't made and so I had to call the pharmacist myself. She declared it wasn't a chest infection even though I had every symptom listed on the NHS website. I insisted I was referred back for a call from the duty doctor and she agreed. However, the pharmacist failed to make the call and again I had to do their job and call the surgery myself. I did eventually get a call from the nurse who prescribed my antibiotics. This whole process took me 5 hours when feeling extremely ill and struggling for breath. I've since transferred to another surgery as I just don't trust Spilsby to take care of my health.

Dear patient, I am sorry that you were dissatisfied with the service that you received recently and that you have decided to move surgeries. I would have been happy to speak to you to investigate your concerns further. Unfortunately, you have not given your name so I cannot investigate your individual complaint but I will explain the process in use for the NHS contracted pharmacy service. The Care Navigators do not refuse to let patients speak to doctors. They ask a series of questions to determine the best course of action for a patient. For symptoms such as yours they would then use a NHS approved series of questions and patient answers, using PharmRefer, to determine whether the patient could be dealt with by the Pharmacist or whether the symptoms did indeed warrant a GP contact. Should the former be advised a referral is sent to the local chemist automatically by the system. The surgery do not have any control over the referral back to the GP by the Pharmacist, but they normally ring the GP to discuss why the patient cannot be dealt with by them. Sometimes the process does take longer than the patient would like but at this time of year, especially at the moment, all medical services are extremely stretched and we have to prioritise patients, dealing with the sickest patients first whilst using the most appropriate service for the patient. I can assure you that we do our best to contact all patients who require a GP call-back within 2 hours. Our Care Navigators are trained to offer alternative services which does include 999, 111 or urgent treatment centres where and when appropriate. Thank you again for posting this comment as it allows us to explain our service to a wider audience. Yours faithfully Jason Longstaff Practice Manager

  4. Review titled Good experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I contacted the surgery as I was having quite worrying symptoms but hadn't registered as we've just moved to the locality. I was treated with care and courtesy by all the staff and saw a doctor the same day. I'd highly recommend Spilsby Syrgery.

Dear Tina, I am sorry that this response has not been forthcoming. There have been some issues in accessing this service to respond to you. I did look into your concern at the time and noted that it had been resolved amicably with yourself. Thank you for taking the time to make a review. Jason Longstaff Practice Manager
