after several visits with bad cough and shortness of breath my GP told me that I’m perfectly fine and should come back when I start spitting blood.

  2. Review titled This place should be shut down for people’s safety

Rated 1 star out of 5

Last 2 years I’m visiting this place every 3 weeks with chocking cough, it’s never ending circle, antibiotics, nasal sprays, inhaler. All based on guess and symptoms google search. Any of those “doctors “ ever offered referral to specialists, it’s impossible to get any professional help there. Very sad place, better to keep away

  3. Review titled Very badly run practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

Stanley Medical Centre is a very badly run practice. I have been trying to get an appointment now for 3 weeks now without any success. Having rung daily for the last 3 weeks, you ring at 08:00 am exactly you only get the answering machine. As soon as you ring off and then do an immediate redial the line is constantly engaged. When you do finally get through you are told that all the appointments have been taken for that day and that you are not allowed to book any future dates and that you must ring again at 8 am and try your luck on the following day. This is a ridiculous way to run a GP practice. This used to be a great practice several years ago, but since the Senior GP in charge left the practice, it has just gone from bad to worse over the last few years and in particular the last few months. As a result I will now have to move to another GP practice several miles away which I know (from my next door neighbours who have also moved) is professionally and well run. Stanley Medical Centre doesn't deserve even one star because it is absolutely terrible.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you felt you had to report this online and I would have welcomed the opportunity to have discussed this with you in person. In response I would like to offer the following information: Our appointments are released at 8am each day and we have increased our staff and incoming phone lines to manage the incoming calls at that time. Demand for appointments is extremely high and we utilise all the resources available to us to provide appointments to meet this demand. I am aware it is very busy at 8am and request calls that are not for appointments ring later in the day if possible when the phone lines may be quieter.

  4. Review titled So frustrating

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Both myself and my other half are not very well having returned from abroad. Despite using 111 (together under one call) yesterday and being asked to follow up with our GP it seems impractical to do so. Calling 85 times at 8am (with no call queue so it immediately hangs up), then when finally getting through they can only offer a 10 min phone appointment for one of us (and being asked who is worse - we have been on the same holiday and exposed to the same issue). The same test will surely be needed for both of us so a phone call very easily could have been shared, which means one of us won’t have to wait longer for care. Nevertheless, to only be able to get one 10 min appointment (not even face to face) when calling with an urgent care need for 2 people at 8am is poor at best. Where are people expected to go? Available routes are so easily exhausted.

  5. Review titled Poor practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

My son visited the GP yesterday and was prescribed some cream. I was informed that the prescription would be passed to the pharmacy (adjoining building) who would contact me tomorrow when the prescription was ready to collect. Lunchtime the following day I contacted the pharmacy to check as I had a moment during my work pattern. The pharmacy informed me that they had not received any prescription and that the patient was not even registered with them - asked to contact surgery. 15 minute wait on phone, abrasive receptionist went off to find prescription - returned several minutes later and told me I would have to come and collect the prescription and drop it off at pharmacy - I asked (politely) whether she would be able to do this (as I was told they would) only to receive the response "I'm too busy to do that" - it would take a maximum of 30 seconds - now I appreciate that people are busy - but...... So I cancel a meeting (I'm NHS too) so I can get my sons cream, as he is sore, uncomfortable and wants to get going with his treatment - I collect the prescription and drop off at pharmacy - to be told they don't have it in stock and it will be ready tomorrow - thanks GP receptionist - really appreciate taking an hour out of my day to do something you could have done in 30 seconds. When I asked for a friends and family test, the machine was broken and the staff couldn't find a form - so whilst standing at reception I found it for them - on their own website. A near total lack of kindness, compassion and empathy on display.
