    I was very upset and disappointed today to be told today that I was being charged £20 for a doctor signing a form for my daughter so she can participate in her Riding for the disabled group again this year. I appreciate that doctors have to charge for things classed as private work, even though riding for the disabled is something that actually benefits my daughter's health in so many ways, physically and mentally and has social benefits for her, but £20 just for a signature?!

    I am very sorry you feel that this charge is not fair. Please note that we follow national guidelines when applying charges. What may seem like a simple signature, actually involves taking time to read through a patients notes to confirm accuracy of what has been declared. We are inundated with various similar requests, and this not part of our NHS contract. As such, there is an associated charge.     During the last few years this practice has been exceptional in providing care for my whole family .My father has since passed away , but he was always seen when needed ,and promptly ; he really felt known and comforted too .My mother is now receiving twice weekly dressings from the exceptional nursing team who go out of their way to arrange convenient appointments for me to bring my mother to the surgery .My daughter , away at university , was given a prompt phone appointment and due to red flags in her symptoms was told to go straight to A and .The doctor even kindly googled which A and E she should go to in the city where she is a student , as she was panicking .I feel we are brilliantly cared for as a family .We are always greeted kindly by the reception team who genuinely want to help and guide us in our needs .I was very touched when they said how sorry they were following my father’s death. He was not just a patient but a person they knew, respected and cared for .Whichever doctor or nurse you see , they show knowledge of the patient , have time to listen, explain ,discuss and consider all avenues before proceeding with care .I highly recommend this practice .It is well run , with an excellent team and certainly considers my family unit and our needs as a family …especially when supporting my husband and I as we care for my elderly mother .
