    I called yesterday to ask for my order to be approved as was struggling without my medication and the receptionist I spoke too went above and beyond to ensure I could get my medication that day, they listed me as high priority and messaged the doctor directly asking them to approve the order and then called me back to offer to change my pharmacy so I was able to collect them that day, I don’t know where I would be without that receptionist and I wish I could mention their name so they know they are valued and appreciated and helped me out of a dark place, I’ll be forever grateful if this gets passed on to them because they deserve to know the impact they had on me that day, they truly are a huge asset to the surgery, thank you again truly.

    I work I phone up in a queue of 13 and no appointments at end. GP asked me to arrange a follow up appointment- visited the surgery was unable to make one at reception. Impossible to get to get anywhere with the surgery. App will not work as it does not send password reset. I am in pain and cannot get an appointment- reception staff are nice but powerless to help- total shambles.

    I have tried on serveral occasions over last few weeks/months get an appointment for my elderly mother 85. I was told no advanced appointments, ring on day at 8am. I rang on Friday 24 March, waited for 25 minutes to be later told nothing available. They told me just keep trying daily... The receptionist told me come down at 8am to surgery to make an appointment. I live 3 hours away. Are they still in 19th Century? I´m extremely frustrated to be given these meaningless answers. I asked to speak to a supervisior. Nobody available but I asked for name so I could email a message. No email on the website only postal address. So now I have to send a letter by post to communicate with a supervisor. Really!! I can´t believe this is happening when I believe my elderly mother needs help and can´t get it.

    As a student living next to this doctors I thought it would be an ideal place to use for convenience. However, I’ve had nothing but trouble getting an appointment despite ringing exactly 8am on weekdays. My experience included me ringing and explaining what was wrong, the receptionist then referred me to a pharmacy knowing full well I couldn’t have anything like antibiotics to help as I haven’t had the chance to see or speak to a doctor never mind be prescribed anything. The pharmacy then told me there was nothing they could do, apart from over the counter and advised me to attempt to book an appointment with a doctor again. It felt like a circle of games for the receptionist to get numbers down on the phone line, I definitely wouldn’t recommend using these doctors unless you want your time to be wasted.

    Usual practice as part of NHS strategy is to offer assistance from Pharmacy first if patients symptoms warrant this. Not all conditions will require antibiotic treatment and many patients can be treated with 'over the counter' remedies. On-line access to appointments and prescriptions is encouraged to save having to wait in a queue at 8 am. Please contact the surgery if you would like to discuss. Forge Medical Practice

    How on earth do people who start work at 8 get to actually make an appointment? I have tried numerous times, all unsuccessful. So had to use the NHS app which only had nurse appointments available. After a 3 week wait I went today. I feel I was not listened to at all in fact I only got the chance to mention a couple of my symptoms to be rudely interrupted by her saying 'I don't think I'm going to meet your expectations today' I feel with that attitude she'll fail to meet many, if any of the patients expectations! I've contemplated for many years changing my GP surgery this just ,might be the straw that broke my back. I feel this afternoon was a waste of my much valuable time. I certainly don't visit the place without good reason!!

    I went for a discussion about my blood test results today and the service that I received from the highly professional member of staff was excellent and very typical of the superb staff that work at this fantastic practice both on the phone and in person. The member of staff was clear knowledgeable informative positive friendly caring genuine and understanding. I left the building reassured and in an upbeat frame of mine.     Not the best appointment system ever invented. Phone up at 0800hrs and hope for the best. It must be very time consuming for both parties. Not great for the working population, and this group of people quite obviously not taken into account. Just as well it's quick and easy to change GP practice which I suggest everyone to do until the appointment system upgraded. Also people need to be aware of 'Caldicott Principle 4'.

    The appointment booking system is not effective - patients are required to call at 8 am precisely on the day to get an appointment and you can not book future appointments. If you call one minute after 8 am, there will be no appointments left and you have to call back the next day exactly at 8 am! The EMIS system they use only allows appointments to be booked with Clinicians and Healthcare practitioners, not GPs. The service is deliberately made inaccessible by the practice's management. Only releasing daily appointments most likely means the practice does not know which doctors will be working at the practice on any given day. Surely, a GP practice should know which doctor will be working for at least one week in advance, and can take on appointments - but this is not the case with the Old Forge GP. The medical and administrative staff work hard to provide a good service, but they are restricted by poor management of the provision. This difficulty in obtaining appointments with the GP means patients with long standing conditions or those who are elderly- are made to wait and are delayed in receiving their treatment - in many cases this results in the conditions getting worse needing urgent care at the A&E. These visits to the A&E could have been prevented if the GP service was accessible. I will remain anonymous because I fear if the practice knows my name, me or my family members will have even more difficulty in obtaining appointments and treatment. In short, the GP service is in dire need of saving from the incompetent management of the service. Healthcare (including the GPs) and administrative staff are capable professionals - sadly, the same can not be said about the management.

    I attended the Old Forge recently and the service was excellent as usual. This included helpful and friendly reception staff. The nurse was also a huge help. She was caring genuine helpful clear informative and caring.
