  1. Review titled Efficient, professional and friendly

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Had my annual bloods and general check up today. The HCA was excellent, and spotted something that I hadn't really thought was an issue, but which is now getting investigated. Really grateful for her diligence in spotting something that I didn't go in with the intention of talking about.

  2. Review titled Excellent practice

Just used askmyGp online questions which I found easy to use. My question was not urgent so requested phone reply from one of the Doctors , which I received within 12hours , my question was answered to my satisfaction, I will use this method again as I found you have time to gather your thoughts and write them down to be able to answer doctors questions as some time when visiting doctors surgery you forget most of what you were going to ask. I think this is excellent idea. You can request face to face when using the app .

  3. Review titled Unusually Poor

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Had a consultation with a GP today, aside from the audible sighs over the telephone throughout the conversation, was ultimately made to feel as though the interaction was an inconvenience. Condescending approaches don't work in healthcare. It's such a shame as the practice has been fantastic on all other fronts over the last decade for us. Genuinely sad to have written this review.

  4. Review titled Telephone contact

I strongly recommend that the telephone message tells callers how many people are waiting in the queue. Having held the line for over 10 minutes before giving up on getting an operator, I would have really appreciated knowing how many calls were to be answered before mine.

  6. Review titled Efficient practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I registered with the practice in 2021. I was invited for a routine healthcheck. I contacted the surgery by phone & was given an appointment that afternoon with a nurse who was easy to chat to & made it all very informal. Routine bloods were taken & an abnormality was found. I was given clear information in writing & a prescription provided. I later contacted the practice via the website for another matter & my online query was dealt with very quickly. Again a positive outcome. Last week I needed to make an appointment & went via the NHS app & had an apointment within 2 days. The GP I saw listened to my concerns & agreed they are valid & is referring me for further investigation. All of these contacts with the surgery have been since April 2021. I can not fault the professionalism & kindness of all staff I have come into contact with. Thank you all.

  7. Review titled Hard to make an appointment

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 25 July 2023

I phoned up the morning and they said they had no appointment left. They said to ring back at 12:30 for the afternoon appointments. I phoned exactly on the dot at 12:30 and have not been able to get through even 20 minutes after. I have tried over 100 times to ring and I have not been able to get passed the first bit before it says all agents are available. It's been bad in the past but never this bad. Is it even possible to book an appointment? Or have I just chosen a bad day?

Dear Anonymous, Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear about your recent experience trying to contact the practice for an appointment. If you could send an email to the practice on NNECCG.GMMC@NHS.NET and mark it for the attention of the practice manager with the number you called the practice on and the other time you called, and I will be able to report it to our telephone providers to investigate I and I will get back to you with the findings. 8. Review titled Wonderful practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Pauline Hall - Posted on 05 September 2023

Have been with this practice 5 years. It's been excellent, even during Covid. All the staff from Reception through to GP's, patient and caring. I've moved around the country due to my husbands job. So I have lots to compare it with.

  9. Review titled Very helpful and attentive

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have never had any issues trying to make contact with the GP practice. I have been in contact with them more recently with an ongoing problem and they have been very helpful and always willing to see me in person. I also have no problems when getting prescriptions using the online system. The reception staff are always friendly and willing to help.

Dear Karly Thank you for your positive feedback about your recent experiences with the practice. Online prescriptions is a much more convenient way to order your medication and it also frees the phones up for those people who do not have any internet services or need to speak to reception. 10. Review titled Unable to get through by phone

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 December 2022

I have been trying for 2 days to get through to order a prescription that I need as I have run out of the drug I'm taking. The practice only allows 2 hours per day for this purpose and the line is continually busy. The queue for reception is up to 20 long and the wait can be up to half an hour so I can't get through there either. I guess I will have to drive to the practice to make a request in person. For anyone with out access to a car this would be impossible. For a practice that I would rate pretty as good once able to see a GP this aspect of the service I am experiencing I rate it as really poor. More people are needed to man the telephone lines.

Thank you for your feedback and I would like to offer my apologies for the problems you had contacting the practice. Online patient access is still available and can be applied for or reactivated. Please see the practice website https://www.gosforthmemorial.nhs.uk/ for more information. The phone system we now have in place is in line with NHS guidance, it is cloud based and engaged tones are no longer permitted hence the queuing system. This is a big adjustment for both staff and patients alike and along with the increased demand for appointments, prescription requests and queries it is understandably causing frustration on both sides. The reception team are working extremely hard under enormous pressures while taking verbal abuse on a daily basis. I would like to reassure all our patients, the Partners and practice staff are looking at ways to improve access to the practice. We have started to release online appointments which we aim to increase in the New Year and eConsults are available via the website for non-urgent clinical and non-clinical enquiries. We work closely with the practice participation group to look at ways of improving patient satisfaction and new members are very welcome. Please see the PPG notice board in reception for more information. Mary Dobson Practice Manager
