  2. Review titled Not helpful at all

Rated 1 star out of 5

The people here do not seem to consider the problems of patients. They are so rude on call itself. The person on call did not even ask me any further questions relating to my health or any information. Just booked me a slot and the worst part is they don’t even give confirmation text or email for the slot.

Could you please either contact one of management team or e mail nencicb-ng.thornfieldmedical@nhs.net with your name and I will investigate the matter further.

  3. Review titled Disorganised unhelpful and rude.

Rated 1 star out of 5

Having called twice to make an appointment and being told I would be contacted with info once the receptionist had spoken to my doctor & having no response 2 & half weeks between each call I tried for a third time, I was then text given an appointment. I visited the surgery and signed in on the machine, I waited for over an hour before approaching the desk, I was then told it was too late to see a doctor. The staff where rude and dismissive, I am now left without medication and will likely be for weeks which will have serious knock on effects for my mental health. I have registered with a better surgery I have only heard positive reviews for, I would never recommend this service to anyone who needed any medical assistance of any kind. Avoid.

  4. Review titled Unorganised

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Georgia - Posted on 29 July 2023

I rang up as I’ve been apprehensive about having a Pap smear since receiving the letter prompt around 7 months ago (when I turned 25) the receptionist booked my appointment for this Saturday at 10am. When I turned up to the centre there was a mix up of where to go as the walk in didn’t offer this service. When I finally got through to streetwise there wasn’t anyone there to see me either. The clinic I was meant to be at for my appointment wasn’t even open as they apparently don’t open weekends. This service helps detect cancer in women and with it being very invasive it’s stressful enough even making an appointment. If I’m being very honest I’m not going to make another one because of this. The women that did try and offer service to me from the walk in and streetwise and the man at reception were very polite and consoling but couldn’t help as it wasn’t within their department. Whoever spoke to me originally needs to double check availability and times of service. Embarrassed and angry about the whole experience.

I am sorry to hear about the issue you raise. Our service was open on Saturday for streetwise clients but not for cytology on Saturday 29 July. I have looked into the booking system via our call recording service and I believe your appointment is on 5th August. I do hope you will come for this very important screening test but please contact us to reschedule if not convenient.

  5. Review titled Do GP's work here?

Rated 1 star out of 5

by James Hudson - Posted on 05 June 2023

I've not been able to see a GP at Thornfield since pre-pandemic. It's always a nurse practitioner and most of the time over the phone or ask for photos etc. They recently wasted my money by prescribing me things I could have easily got over the counter and I know aren't effective at treating me.

  7. Review titled impossible to get an appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by melanie baxter - Posted on 10 January 2023

impossible to get an appointment, told to keep trying spending hours each day to be told no regular appointments available , no one can tell me when the best time to call would be to get a regular appointment apparently it a lottery now whether you receive the health care they proport to provide. do they not realise that not providing regular appointments mean that minor problems end up not being addressed and manifest bigger and more serious health problems

I am disappointed to read your 1 star review. I am unsure if you are aware but the NHS has had to adapt to its way of working, to enable it to continue to provide a quality service but with limited resources. There is a national shortage of GP's within the UK. With support from NHS England, it has been possible to offer extended training to other allied healthcare professionals to enable them to see patients that do not require a high specialised GP intervention. Thornfield Medical Group uses a clinically validated triage tool to ensure our patients are seen by the most appropriate healthcare professional. Our practice has highly trained and experienced, Nurse Practitioners, Paramedic and Pharmacists. These allied healthcare professionals work as part of a wider multidisciplinary team from the NHS family, to support GP colleagues. Through this adapted way of working, we are ensuring that patients can receive timely and appropriate care by the most appropriate healthcare professional. An appointment to see a patient face to face or by telephone is the exact same duration. I can confirm that we do see patients face to face, but we often find for convenience, patients prefer a telephone call or to send pictures into us of their medical complaint. If you prefer to be seen face to face then please mention this to the care navigator when calling us. I am sorry to hear you feel you wasted money by paying for medicines which could have been bought more cheaply over the counter from a pharmacist. Perhaps for the future, a conversation with the pharmacist may avoid this. I will pass on your comments to our staff and if we are aware of any medicines which may be cheaper at the pharmacy, we will try to advise patients of this.

Had a great experience getting a prescription. Everyone was extremely helpful and the whole process was easy and efficient. Have also had great care from the nursing teams the past when I attended for routine screening appointments. Thank you so much.
