  1. Review titled Great Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I needed an emergency appointment recently due to severe facial pain. I was advised on the phone to complete the online form. I filled in the form and was called back with an appointment within 10 minutes. I was then seen by an advanced nurse practitioner within 45 minutes of the phone call. I was diagnosed with an ear infection. A prescription for antibiotics was sent electronically to my chosen pharmacy.I was then able to collect the prescription straight away with the bar code provided by the surgery. All in all a very positive experience.

I contacted the practice after 5pm on a Friday to say my daughter was not well. The doctor was really responsive and saw us straight away and stayed to see her. The doctor put her at ease and efficiently diagnosed her issue. We really appreciated our excellent care. Fantastic service.

  4. Review titled Went above and beyond

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Ordered repeat prescription, went to collect to find pharmacy could not supply one important one (supply problem) advised to speak with the receptionist, we were travelling to York the next day on business, staff asked what pharmacy I was near and arranged a collection from them. This is the type of service we are not used to, as our previous GP in Yorkshire sadly became a victim of the pandemic and service was not good. Greystokes is a superb practice and I am grateful to all the staff who worked hard to ensure my prescription was filled. You will always have hic-ups when dealing with so many individuals, but I can only offer my heartfelt thanks for your outstanding service. Keep it up. Kind regards Dave.

  5. Review titled Great service thank you

I telephoned the practice this morning. It took about 20 minutes to get through but I spoke to a calm and helpful receptionist who listened to my concerns about my daughter and advised that I would get a call from the nurse practitioner. She phoned and offered an after school appointment. When we saw her she was thorough and had a lovely manner with my daughter. She took bloods straight away, no need to come back, and explained follow up processes. Fantastic service - thank you to you all.

  6. Review titled Thank you

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I attended the surgery for an annual review with a nurse. I found her so reassuring and cheerful, and so kind that it was easy to forget that she must carry out this routine very frequently, as I felt that my health and the tests she was undertaking really mattered to her. Although she assured me that if I heard nothing within a day or two it would mean that all was well and there was nothing to worry about, I did ask her if she could let me know the results of a particular test relating to medication I have fairly recently been prescribed. She immediately offered to send me a text with the result, which she did the very next day. The text was friendly and reassuring and just right for an older person who was feeling a bit anxious! While waiting for my appointment I was also able to observe the receptionists dealing with phone calls and callers at the desk in such a calm and caring way - typical, it seems to me, of the ethos of this excellent practice. It is several years since I have needed a doctor's appointment, but I am sure the GP's must set the tone and ethos of the practice as a whole, so I would like to say thank you to everyone involved!!

  7. Review titled method of appointment not patient friendly

Rated 1 star out of 5

The Website for reporting review is chronic non-user friendly! \My constructive comment/complaint on the method/design for patients attempting to make an appointment does not merit other NHS surgeries who have a more 'user friendly' method. Their patients are provided with a means of informing the individual patient by simply providing an automated queuing/ numbering system? Perhaps this would provide comfort to patients who would otherwise have to sit and wait for an hour or more attempting to make an appointment to be informed to try their luck/chance the next day? I am sure it would go a long way to preventing the stressful situation it causes patients having tried so many times without success?

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide feedback. Econsult, available via our website, to which you refer is just one method of obtaining clinical access at our practice. We also offer online appointments via System1 (log in details required). We agree that the telephone appointment system requires a review, which we are currently undertaking, with the engagement of our Patient Participation Group. I am afraid an automated queuing system is not an option for us, due to the limitations of our telephone system. Thank you once again for your feedback, and if you would like to offer more examples of challenges you face, please do not hesitate to get in touch with our Practice Manager.

  8. Review titled Great service

My husband has type 1 diabetes. We were travelling several hours away to visit family yesterday when we realised that he had forgotten his extra insulin. We phoned Greystoke, spoke to an extremely helpful and understanding receptionist who organised an urgent prescription to be sent to a pharmacy near where we are staying. There was a minor issue with the prescription so we had to phone back this morning but it was sorted quickly and he now has his medication. We know how extremely busy the practice is right now and we are grateful for the help we have had - thank you!

  9. Review titled Can't get through to reception

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 30 August 2022

Have the same problem almost every time in that you can't get through to reception to speak to somebody. I need to book an appointment to have a blood sample taken and waited on answerphone listening to recorded messages then when eventually hearing the dialing tone another message says nobody available to take your call, please call back later. The phone call lasted 7 minutes this time before being disconnected. I've no doubt they are busy but the system is just not working and it wastes time.

Thank you for your feedback - we are sorry to hear about your experience with our telephone system. We are very busy and our staff are working hard to answer calls as quickly as possible but it is not our intention that calls should be terminated in such a way. We will speak to our telephony system supplier to see if this is something that happens frequently and what options we may have to address this issue. If you feel able, it would be helpful if you could provide your details, including the time of your call, to our practice manager so we can investigate your specific experience. Contact details are jenniferdollman@nhs.net or 01670 511393. Apologies once again. Many thanks.

  10. Review titled “ Choosing “!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Gavin P - Posted on 14 July 2022

With the extreme pressure that the NHS is under because of covid and staff shortages, my surgery is conducting minor surgery on site carried out by a couple of the doctors to a greater degree than I was aware of previously. I underwent surgery some years ago at my local hospital that unfortunately wasn’t totally successful. No criticism intended here because it was a cyst that burst during the op. I was informed at the time that there was a risk that the cyst would reappear and it duly did. I arranged with my GP to go on the list for surgery to be carried out in the practice rather than tying up hospital priorities (hence the title of the review). I underwent surgery in the capable hands of my doctor and his nursing assistant and after needing a course of antibiotics to clear an infection, duly had stitches removed 14 days later. When you know that you have genuine caring people who want to help you as much as possible it certainly makes a tremendous difference! I have been with the practice since 1985 and it has always been a good surgery but now with the new mix of doctors and attitudes portrayed, it is an Outstanding medical practice! My thanks to all the staff involved!
