Previously had DVT. Suspected another had formed. Arrived at hospital 7.44am. Assessed, bloods done and results shared. On way home at 10am. And the bloods take an hour to test. Absolutely amazingly marvellous care. Thankyou. And thank you again.

  4. Review titled First class treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Saturday 9/3/24. Called 999 for what I thought was acute appendicitis. The 999 service was excellent and arranged for a taxi to take me to Boston Hospital Lincolnshire UK. On arrival at A&E I was seen by a surgeon within 30 minutes who diagnosed the source of the problem as a inguinal hernia. I was operated on that same day under full anesthetic. Every member of staff I met at the hospital  was wonderful. I was discharged Monday afternoon 11/3/24 with transport arranged to take me home. This really was first class treatment thank you to the NHS and all the staff at Boston hospital.

  5. Review titled 14 hour waiting for "urgent care"

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Spent 14 hours waiting in the emergency department or urgent care centre of the pilgrim hospital with my elderly mother 08 march 24 The staff are heavily over worked, but its getting beyond a joke the waiting time in what is meant to be urgent care. There were many others waiting around the same time. The room is very crowded with little or no facilities for people many standing for hours waiting to be see. Whilst most are assessed by triage nurse in minutes then told to wait. Come on isn't it time this was sorted. Whilst MPs and management use privileges to skip the misery of normal people and cream off the benefits. The staff work really hard for what is a thankless task. Its time something was done.

My husband received fantastic treatment throughout his cancer diagnosis until he passed away. He was treated with dignity and respect. As a family we can’t praise the Bostonian highly enough.

  7. Review titled Poor

The long wait is inevitable so no complaints there. The absolute unprofessional behaviour of the staff is certainly something to mention. Rude, abrupt and completely lacking in compassion. After a 6 hour wait for a blood result for my elderly mother, I was met with 'what do you want!' When I approached the male staff nurse. All staff in the waiting area looked unclean with scruffy, dirty uniforms. Dishing put IV fluids with not one hand wash between patients... Patients were spoken to like they were a complete inconvenience to the nurse who, as the first staff member people see, was hands down the most unprofessional nurse I have met and I have been a nurse in the NHS for 25 years.

  8. Review titled An appointment

    by Gonk24 - Posted on 23 January 2024

I had an appointment in January at the fracture clinic at Pilgrim hospital. I don't drive so had to catch a bus from my home address to Boston and walk round Boston with a fractured toe. I then got a taxi to the hospital. A bus back from the hospital then a bus back to my home address. I was then called in to my appointment and I think I was only in for about 5mins and told I was been discharged and to do the things I was already doing. I could have been told that all over the phone. I was more annoyed of how much I paid for transport that day.

  9. Review titled A&E visit, hospital stay and discharge

by Orgiva - Posted on 11 January 2024

I was admitted to A&E with appendicitis, while still the ambulance the doctor came to attend to me to say I needed to go straight to a bed, that did not happen. I sat in A&E for 9 hours, being constantly sick and each time is was sick I could not hold my waters, this was very embarrassing not only for me but others around, it was not dignified at all. I eventually got to the ward at 01:30 to find 3 empty beds, and I am sure 3 people were not discharged at midnight. My stay in hospital was very good the nurses, theatre staff and doctors were excellent and could not fault them. It then came to my day of being discharged. I was given the all-clear to go home at 10:00 as everything was good. I then had to sit and wait until 19:45 for the doctor to complete my paperwork, sick note and medication. Surely there is a more up-to-date system to help things move quicker. I was not the only one, this was happening to others on the ward. There seems to be a lack of working together or wanting to improve the whole system of the NHS.

  10. Review titled A&E —Shocking

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 January 2024

Arriving at the A&E around 5 pm today was quite a shock. Armed with a diagnosis of appendicitis from my GP, I was expecting a swift response, ideally within 1-2 hours. However, what I encountered was a chaotic scene, with over 30-40 people waiting—it felt more like navigating an airport than seeking medical help! The wait time was unacceptable, surpassing seven hours for some patients, as I learned from chatting with them. Faced with this daunting delay, I made the tough call to leave within the first 5 minutes and take my chances elsewhere, despite appendicitis being extremely dangerous. The atmosphere inside didn't help either; it was disheartening. The reception area seemed unwelcoming, with visibly unhappy staff. The place looked dark, cold, and dirty. Also, outside resembled more of a construction site than a place for healing. While we understand waiting for 1-2 hours might be expected, anything beyond that is simply not acceptable, especially for specific conditions like appendicitis. Overall, the extensive wait times and the less-than-ideal environment make it highly unlikely for me to choose this facility for urgent medical needs in the future. I've since phoned my GP surgery, who are making further enquiries.
