  1. Review titled Hopeless system for appointments.

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 09 April 2024

Following a blood test which showed an iron level below the normal reference limit a repeat was scheduled some months later. In the meantime, another blood test requested by a different NHS service showed the same result and a letter from the clinician was sent to WMP recommending the prescribing of Iron tablets. The second (repeat) test also showed the same result. The repeat blood test result was marked as reviewed by a GP. Subsequently, I received a phone call from a clerical staff member informing me that the patient needed to 'speak to a doctor' and asked if I would like a telephone call or face to face appointment. I was bemused since it was not clear what format the appointment would consist of and I was left assuming that a physical examination was not required, so opted for the telephone option. The date given was over 3 weeks away! I asked when would the face to face be and that was even further away! The only other option to resolve the matter sooner is for me to call or attend the surgery (or submit an online form) on the next working day (now a Monday) and try to get an 'on the day appointment'. As referenced elswhere in other reviews here, this is somewhat of a lottery and always seems to cause extra stress and anxiety. Is it really beyond the wit of the practice management to devise a better system for providing the necessary care and treatment without stressing the patient further?

  3. Review titled Fantastic practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I’ve only been a patient at Watton Practice for half a year, but it is the best GP practice I have ever been at. The staff are incredibly friendly and I cannot fault their doctors. I’ve felt listened to with my concerns and have always got an appointment when needing one. People are so quick to blame the GP practice for such minor things, but I cannot fault this place. Highly, highly recommend.

  4. Review titled Awful

Not only is it impossible to get an appointment, it is now impossible to fill out a web form to get a reply from a medical professional. This practice has a history of very poor service and complaints seem to have no effect.

  5. Review titled Atrocious

Unable to get an appointment - website forms are closed down for emergencies only. Have an ongoing health issue and every time I go to make an appointment they are on emergency only. Not able to communicate through website or by phone. This is a frequent issue at this place. The receptionists are rude and make you feel like you’re dirt for needing an appointment. I was Lied to by them about sending my details for a referral, the place they said they were sending it to said they received nothing. Fortunately I live on the boundary of another practice who are supposed to be very good. I hope I never have to step foot in this place again. I wish I could get a refund on my national insurance deductions as I do not get a free health service - I just get to pay for it.

  6. Review titled Still helping us.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Despite the incredibly increased demands on the practice they are still helping us with our problems. Over the last few months I have become one of the ‘sick’ who need their help. In my dealings with the practice whether by phone or online they have been kind, understanding and professional. You can see by the massive increase in the medication in bags waiting to be collected at the pharmacy that foot traffic through the surgery has increased massively. They now offer more telephone consultations to help with demand and more and more processed can be handled online. I have a new appreciation for the staff at Watton Medical Practice, they are doing a tough job and they are doing it well. I got one thank them for the way they have looked after me and my illness.

  7. Review titled Receptionist

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I had reason to attend WMP on Monday morning. The patient at the front of queue had very little English and was using the translation app on her phone. The receptionist remained calm and professional throughout a protracted exchange and at no time did she make the young lady feel uncomfortable. Well done that receptionist. My own query was dealt with quickly and efficiently. Praise where praise is due.

  8. Review titled Blood test

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had a text from the surgery asking for a comment on my visit of 24th Appril for a blood test. I couldn't follow the information given so have decided to give a review on here! I had my blood test - not a mark on my arm today - and had good chat to the nurse who happened to be the COPD nurse at the surgery. I found out that my current meds for the above needed a bit of a tweak and a prescription was ordered for next day collection. The appointment was really good and I felt loads better after some things were explained to me. Let's hope that after the past couple of years we can get back to a sort of normality and renew the relationships we had with staff before covid. I have to have an appointment with the COPD nurse in 3 months and was disappointed that I couldn't pre-book but I was promised that I would get a text to remind me to book nearer the event. All in all a very successful trip.

  9. Review titled Disgusted

Rated 2 stars out of 5

A receptionist is not helpful to a cancer patient that needs blood tests at a certain time for the hospital. Refuses to make the appointment for the test 3 weeks in advance and then when there are no appointments, he sends a 73 year cancer patient 25 miles to get the blood test done at a hospital, rather than speaking to the nurses at the surgery to see if they can fit the patient in.

  10. Review titled Fast response, great service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Phoned with concerns in the morning, full examination completed in the afternoon with clear plan for further investigations. Seen by Dr M, phenomenal Dr whom was extremely understanding and realistic with timings and expectations. Excellent service, very efficient and keen to resolve any issues.
