  1. Review titled A motor traffic accident

    by scutumjs38 - Posted on 17 November 2023

After my Motor traffic accident. I found the staff to be very empathetic and kind. The rehabilitation process may take time. But I was very encouraged by the genuine concern.

  3. Review titled Getting a telephone appointment with the doctor

by Edstoke - Posted on 20 October 2023

I used the practice website to book a phone consultation. It was confirmed online but no date or time was given. However I received a call a few days later and the doctor agreed to follow up my request and promised to call me back in a week's time.

  4. Review titled All in all, excellent service

by Grateful to the NHS - Posted on 15 October 2023

I was waiting in reception to check in and go thru' to the waiting area when the nurse herself came all the way out to get me, calling me by my Christian name. I really felt welcome. In her surgery, I felt very safe and enjoyed her attitude. All in all it was a great experience.

  5. Review titled Flu jab and other checks completed

    by JR16 - Posted on 19 October 2023

Called for flu jab but unexpectedly had BP taken and urine checked The nurse I had never met before was able to do these general checks including sending me to book a blood test. I was very pleased as these checks were overdue and I had not expected that she would have time in a flu jab session.

  6. Review titled This practice has been excellent many times for us

    by talondk43 - Posted on 12 October 2023

The practice were able to be flexible and squeezed my daughter in right at the beginning of the day to enable her to have the flu spray when she couldn’t have it at school, where it is usually given. It was a very tight 2 day window because of family reasons and if we hadn’t been able to get it then, she would have missed it. The nurse was very kind towards my daughter (who was a bit nervous having it without her friends) and generally it was all done superbly - some lovely chatter with my daughter. This practice has been excellent many times for us. This is another example of their listening and taking the extra step - the lovely doctor once even stayed late when nursery staff recommended we see a doctor at late pick-up on a Friday - and otherwise we’d have had to go to A&E for what was, in fact, nothing to be concerned about. Thank you!

  9. Review titled It could be that they require more training.

    by chamaeleontq43 - Posted on 08 May 2023

On my way back from work, I decided to walk into the surgery and book an appointment to see my GP. The staff member seeing to patients for Elm practice was on a call, so I had to wait. When they finished, they called out and asked how can I help you, from the middle of the room where they were sitting. I asked them to come closer. They reluctantly did. I spoke to them, and they took my name, returned back to their seat, and called out again, asking for my date of birth. I said to this staff member, you can't be asking for my date of birth from across the room, you need to come closer. They came closer, and I said it's wrong of you to ask for my date of birth from the middle of the room, this is against Data Protection. They said yes, but there is no one here. True enough patients were not around at the time, however, other staff members were, which still makes it against Data Protection. This is very wrong and should be addressed. It could be that they require more training. Not happy.

Thank you very much for your feedback and please accept my sincere apologies for the shortfalls you have experienced. I have met with the reception team to discuss this incident. It was agreed that the receptionist must at all times speak to patients face to face at the receptionist desk. The particular receptionist that we believe to have dealt with you has been identified and she has too apologised for any upset caused. I would like to have the opportunity to discuss this experience with you in more detail. Please contact the Practice Manager and we can arrange a meeting.

  10. Review titled Did not get checked in (twice)

    by antliatw34 - Posted on 19 December 2022

During my last 2 visits to the practice, I have made myself known to the receptionist and they have said they'd check me in. However both times I've sat in the waiting room and not called in. In one case I waited for 20 minutes, the other time the nurse happened to come out after 10 minutes and saw me. The check-in system clearly doesn't work as intended and I have no confidence that the doctor/nurse will be informed when I next arrive for an appointment. This is a waste of my time and the practicioners' - other patients also need to wait when I have been made late for my appointment.

Thank you for your feedback. I am disappointed to hear that you have experienced problems whilst checking in to see clinicians at Elm Practice. Plus, I am so sorry to hear that this has happened to you twice. As Elm Practice does not have an electronic patient check-in monitor on arrival the receptionists are required to book-in all patients. The receptionist will type an A (for arrival) next to the patient’s name to make the clinician aware that the patient is in the building. Therefore, if patients are not booked in correctly it disrupts the timings for the surgery and the patient. I would be happy to discuss matter with you so that I can establish which receptionists was on duty and get further information about what might have occurred on both visits. Please contact Maxine Grimes, Elm Practice Manager to discuss this matter.
