  1. Review titled Poor practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Mum - Posted on 18 May 2024

My daughter had her bloods taken at the My daughter had her bloods taken at the Pallion Health Centre today in Sunderland. The nurse tried to get some blood from my daughter today using her left arm. The nurse poked her twice but was not successful. The nurse then placed the used needle on the tray, touching its key parts, thus making this very unsterile. She then picked up the same used needle from the tray to obtain some blood from my daughter's right arm and tried 2x before getting the blood successfully. This practice is definitely a Red Flag! Using the same needle and the needle was left on the tray touching its key parts and went straight into my daughter. This is very unacceptable! No aseptic technique and very dangerous! As a nurse myself, I have the duty of candour to report this matter and should not be tolerated. I felt really sad for my daughter, and I should have stopped her. This is very inappropriate and does not comply with the Nmc rules and regulations. I hope that you will act on this matter as this is a Red flag!

  2. Review titled Great Menopausal Advice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Great advice and treatment for my menopausal symptoms today - the doctor concerned really knows her stuff! Would recommend this surgery for both practical advice and treatment. They deliver a very high standard of care!

  3. Review titled Great GP attention let down by the rest of the NHS

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Mark Hodgson - Posted on 04 January 2024

My elderly mother recently suffered a medical incident, leaving her physically frail, so that a visit to the surgery was impracticable. After speaking to a doctor (not sure I can name them, having read the guidance notes before commenting) a home visit was arranged. This took place promptly, and resulted in the doctor calling the hospital for an ambulance to take my mother to the hospital for a brain scan. We were told the ambulance would probably arrive in the next hour. Four hours later there is no sign of it. A big thank you to the doctor for prompt and caring attention; regrettably, as so often, poor marks to the NHS overall.

  4. Review titled Follow-up comments

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Mark Ian Hodgson - Posted on 06 January 2024

I left a comment the other day regarding a house visit by a doctor at the surgery. I was grateful and complimentary to the doctor concerned, but I fear I left an unduly and inaccurately negative impression about the other NHS staff with whom we have dealt in the later part of this process. My criticism was intended to be of delays caused by systemic issues, that very much need to be dealt with, but no criticism of staff was intended - everyone we have dealt with at the hospital (porters, ambulance/paramedic, nurses etc) have been helpful and friendly and they are clearly doing their best within a system which I suspect is letting them down.

  5. Review titled same day appointments only

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 January 2024

I understand that same day appointments are good to get something urgently seen to but the joke of trying to call up to practice that only offers same day appointments only is mad. Calling up just to be between 20-30 in the queue that when get seen to its suddenly no availability for appointment have to call up tomorrow at 8am. I asked if can do any day but no, can only request at 8am when there is loads of people calling, its like rare chance to be seen to. Plus the practice has like 3 sections to it why not be all just one practice don't see the point in having three different practices in the same building

  6. Review titled Still waiting to access an appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 September 2023

Joined the practice recently. I've attempted 3 times, today the 4th time, to get an appointment. Have been told twice "all our appointments for this week have gone" and also "there are no appointments left for today". I've never had to join a bottleneck at 8.00 am to get an appointment before and never known a practice not offer appointments past that day or week. I'm sitting here after being on the phone for 26 minutes and am now down from caller number 28 to caller number 4 and the anxiety I'm feeling is beyond belief!

  7. Review titled Awful services

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 October 2023

Lots of bad experiences I had skin problems and went there 5 times and everytime they just said it was eczema and to put steroids, I had this problem for 8 months! I then got an infection on both hands and had to go to the emergency room, the infection was so bad I couldn’t hold anything with my hands and just after this they referenced me to a dermatologist. I wanted to get my vaccines updated on the system and I had to ring 3 times because each time they just forgot about it or there was a problem that they didn’t tell me about it until I rang. Lastly I’m moving abroad and I asked if I needed any more vaccines and they said no just to find out a week before I need more but have to be from the private sector and while I have no problem paying for it they should have told me.

  8. Review titled Fantastic

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Neil Anthony - Posted on 18 June 2023

111 had informed me I had an appointment for my 5 year old daughter in urgent care. Unfortunately this didn't happen and i was advised to see if Pallion Health Centre was where it was booked. It wasn't, but they seen the 111 report and confirmed it was urgent care. However, the receptionist called her manager and got me an appointment and said I would be seen next, which is fantastic as my daughter is autistic and wouldn't sit for the 2 hours being offered by urgent care. When I saw the doctor he was amazing, caring and friendly and considerate to my daughters needs. Couldn't be more impressed with how they treated me and my daughter.

  9. Review titled Great practice and staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Maureen - Posted on 31 March 2023

Rang at 11.30 for an appointment and was lucky to get one at 2.30pm that after. Had to ring again 2 days later for a further appointment and was given one for the following morning. The receptionist, Dr and practice nurse could not have been any more helpful. I've been with this practice for over 50 years and cannot fault it at all.

  10. Review titled Ignore notifications given by patients

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 08 March 2023

In late 2022 I had travel injections administered by the surgery. I completed a form giving my dates of travel in 2023. I received a letter advising me that my bi-annual diabetes checks were due. Unfortunately the dates I was required to attend clashed with my holiday in March of 2023. One of the first things I receved via text message was a trivial form to complete from the GP surgery. The second was from them and so was the third. Each text costs me £1.35 but the surgery isn't paying the bill so why should they care? In a separate incident one of the partners had also made a referral for me to a department at Sunderland hospital - a department I was ALREADY seeing for the same problem. This was supposedly after having consulted him on a certain day. That appointment had never taken place on that day.
