I came in today because I had made a blunder and forgot to order my repeat prescription and had been without any medication over the 4 days of Easter. I had requested my prescription on Good Friday 29/03/2024 , and asked if my prescription could be fast tracked. The receptionist was very nice and helpful and got it signed off by the doctor for me and sent to the pharmacy. I very much appreciated this help from her and the doctor that signed the prescription... its a pity that the pharmacy were far less helpful and rude .

I completed an on-line request for a ‘same day’ appointment with a doctor. My request was triaged and I was given an afternoon appointment. I have Parkinson’s Disease and I am extremely anxious especially when attending any doctors appointments. I need not have worried. My problem was quickly identified, checked out and confirmed. Medication was prescribed and further tests booked. I was reassured! Thanks to all the staff at Oak Street Medical Practice.

I would not recommend anyone to get any treatment from here especially if it is serious, please just go to the hospital instead . At oak street they don’t mind if you’ve got a condition you suffering from, and how it’s affecting you. They will not give a toss about getting your medicine to you that will help. They always divert from what the doctors say, for example I was told by the doctor to ring in a ask for the medicine if I wanted it, if they anti histamine did not work then the steroids will be given, I rang up on the 8th of December and was told I need to ring back next week. I ring back in the 12th of December I was told , I need an appointment, it’s now the 18th and still have no appointment, no contact from them what so ever. But that’s ok for me from there perspective to have to suffer and be in pain.

I find if I need to call the surgery the reception team will go out of their way to help whatever the situation maybe. There has been many times I’ve been in a distressed state. Yesterday I saw my Doctor and although the answer wasn’t want I had necessarily hoped. I as always felt listened to and so supported afterwards. I wish I could mention whom as they deserve to know.

I find the staff at the practice to be kind, encouraging, positive, gentle and supportive. Last week I phoned when I was at my lowest, couldn’t see a way forward with mood, blood sugar levels, getting repeat prescriptions, I was anxious, teary, felt like I was fighting a system that I couldn’t navigate. Kind of having a meltdown. I’m passing on my thanks now to everyone I spoke to. The gentleman on reception who was so kind, reassuring, non judgemental and went out of his way to find somebody to help me then and there. The pharmacist was so incredibly kind, gentle and encouraging and made sure that when I was too overwhelmed to talk that the metaphorical door was open to come back and complete the conversation. Finally the diabetes specialise nurse who is also sensible, friendly, non judgemental, kind and encouraging. In the past I have struggled with medical interactions and appreciate Oak Street’s attitude and style. I have seen some negative comment about the practice not seeing people face to face and just want to add that I am very happy with the way the practice works. I find it useful to be able to write all I want to say down and share it online, saves me forgetting things or going off on a tangent. The practice are always good at responding and we get to see a nurse or doctor if we need to. Really appreciate the practice and staff. Thank you.

I have been a patient at this surgery for about 26 years and can honestly say I have only ever received amazing care from all at the surgery. Over the years my two children suffered from various health issues varying from Ulcerative colitis to scoliosis and lots in between and every Doctor there, past and present has helped us through these horrible times. I recently had an appointment with A (apparently this will only be published if no names are recorded) who listened to my woes and came up with an action plan, which included homework (for me to research) and bloods to have taken. My dog had also recently died so we were unsure if this could also have been a contributing factor. I had the blood tests and they came back normal. A’ called me to check up on me, we hadn’t made this appointment and I thought it was for me to chase but since I was feeling a lot brighter I hadn’t done so. She is extremely efficient, very friendly and so easy to talk to. She didn’t make me feel at all like my feelings weren’t validated and was sympathetic whilst listening to me babble on. Thank you. I got off the phone and spoke to my daughter, repeating what A’ had told me. I said to my daughter “oh and she’s vegan too’ (same as we are) To which point my daughter, who now has been diagnosed with Endo, said this was the same clinician who had helped her too. When my daughter had her appointment with A’, A’ had a plan in action straight away, reassured my daughter on everything she needed to know at the time and stopped my daughter spiralling into a “what’s the point” mind set, which once down is hard to get up again from. A’ is an asset to your already great practice. Thank you from both of us.

I have been continuously impressed by the team at Oak Street Practice for both myself and my two children who require frequent medical support. Every member of staff I've encountered from my GP to reception to pharmacy has been so helpful. I recently had a particularly fantastic help from a pharmacy technician who helped me when the NNUH was not able to. They are quick to see you, listen respectfully and take your concerns seriously, balancing the availability of in-person to phone appointments in a way that works. Thank you to the whole team.
