  1. Review titled Call waiting gone wrong

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 January 2024

Problem now for years with phoning for appointments. My wife is still awaiting phone pickup after 1 hour 32 minutes and over 40 minutes with “one caller ahead of you”. They have also stopped making appointments at reception pushing all on to the phones. Particularly given all the modern technology available, including NHS app, this service is unbelievably poor. There has to be a better system and I’m sure any patients with a technical capability would be more than happy to offer advice. Please sort out this problem for the sake of your patients, the GP’s and the staff!

  2. Review titled Long waiting times. Do not respond

Rated 1 star out of 5

It took 85 minutes to get to make an appointment. When I finally managed to see a doctor they promised to text an update within 2 days. 5 days on I'm still waiting....

  3. Review titled Rude receptionist

Rated 1 star out of 5

Receptionist was clearly in a hurry to end her working day. I had rang to arrange a test on the day I was told after ringing a week prior to this phone call. The receptionist talked over me and when politely asked to let me finish my sentence without being interrupted, she said ‘good bye’ and put the phone down. I had been in the queue for 47 minutes by then. There are some very polite and friendly staff members at the surgery and it is a shame that the team is let down by one member of staff. I understand the need to wait when the surgery is busy, albeit anything over twenty minutes seems an extraordinary long time, but I expect to be treated with the same respect staff members can and should expect from patients.

  4. Review titled Awful Customer Service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 11 September 2023

After calling 111 regarding some head and neck injuries, they said they would send a referral to my GP Davenport House so that I could see a GP on the day. I called the surgery and it took me 2 hours 32 minutes until I got through to reception. To no surprise, they said there are no more appointments for today and after I told them it’s probably because it took them so long to answer my call, they were very unapologetic for the time I was kept waiting. Don’t bother with this GP, you’ll get nowhere.

  5. Review titled Waiting time to speak to someone

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Was in the queue for over an hour and a half as was told to book a doctors appointment based off a 'rejected repeat prescription' only to be told that it has infact been authorised and is ready for collection. Systems need to be much better to stop wasting receptionists and our own's time when its infact not necessary.

  6. Review titled E-Consult Works!

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 February 2023

My husband was concerned about something, so wanted to ask a GP for advice, but it wasn't urgent so didn't want to take an appointment away from someone else. I advised him to fill in the e-consult form on the surgery website. He filled it in at midnight on Wednesday night (when we happened to be talking about it) and on Friday he was called by a GP from Davenport. He had a helpful conversation with him, which he said was succinct and informative. The decision was to have a blood test to look into the issue, so the GP sent the form via text link. We printed it out at home on Friday and headed off to St Albans hospital for the blood test on Monday morning. Amazing service! Thanks Davenport House!

  7. Review titled Communication using "Econsult" is excellent

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 January 2023

My wife and I have both used the Econsult route on the GP practice website and we have found it to be a really excellent way of engaging with the GP. The response from the GPs has been remarkably quick and very helpful and the whole experience was very good indeed.

  8. Review titled Terrible appointments service

Rated 1 star out of 5

They've been running this calling at 8am system to get an appointment several years now, and its dire. It's not only impossible to get an appointment with your own doctor but stressful and frustrating. Even if you call at the time they say, you get user busy for ages, then get stuck in a queue (which only has capacity for 15 people). When you get through after at 45 mins on hold all the appointments are gone. I feel sorry for the elderly or those who cant call at this time, who it must be so difficult for. I've been at this surgery all my life and having to call at a specific time on the day along side the rest of the town is just ludicrous. You should be able to make appointments in advance at any time and they should be allocated according to seriousness and vulnerability. Most of the Dr's work part time / only 2 days a week. Should not be allowed. They also don't have up to date correct pharmacy opening times. Instead of all hanging out in the back room chatting, why doesn't someone ring round and update things.

  9. Review titled Impossible to book a GP appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 25 October 2022

Nearly 2 hours on the phone (not enought phones apparently!) only to be told that all appointment slots have been block booked by the GPs so the receptionist was unable to make a booking - for at least 6 weeks! Appointments are not available online either yet at my last visit the waiting room was empty. I would love to know what the GPs are doing and how long they intend to use Covid as an 'excuse' for non-existant services.

  10. Review titled Long wait on the phone

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 October 2022

Today I phoned reception at 1403 and was told there were 6 calls ahead but I ended up waiting 30 minutes! It turns out there was one receptionist available to handle a queue building by the minute. She was very helpful and surprisingly calm. Her attitude was much appreciated. Surely their are others to help once the queue starts to get longer.
