  1. Review titled Burearocracy gone maed

Rated 1 star out of 5

I went there today at 4.30 pm to be told that I could not been seen today and was asked to return tomorrow. I tried to book an appointment for tomorrow but this was refused. Service of This level is totally unacceptble and I shall be bringing this to the attention of my MP.

Dear Patient. Thank you very much for your comments. This service (Broad Street Health Centre) is not the Reading Urgent Care Centre, they are a different service to our GP Practice. We will forward your comments to the RUCC. Thank you The Team, BSHC

  2. Review titled Quick response saves life

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Robert Hansen - Posted on 06 June 2023

Had spoken to my own GP twice and didn’t get anywhere. The doctor at the walk in centre diagnosed my condition immediately and was sent to RBH. I had an emergency operation that evening. If things had been left the outcome could have been very different. I want to express my and my families gratitude to the staff at the clinic. Thank you.

  3. Review titled The Walk-In Centre provided a Great Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 March 2023

I was seen very quickly. The practitioner was very thorough, explained everything well and gave me re-assurance and advice. (please note I went as a walk-in patient, so the questions relating to the GP practice do not apply)

  4. Review titled They do not want anyone to contact them.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 February 2023

You can't contact this walk-in centre on the phone because the lines are always engaged and you are automatically cut off. I have tried on so many different times throughout the day. Decided to email instead but the email address advertised on this NHS site, just bounces back. This is really poor service.

  5. Review titled Awful practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

I am a registered patient, you can never get an appointment, you are told to call at 8am but can’t get though. The surgery, Broad Street Health Centre (formally known as Reading Walk-in Health Centre), for registered patients, and the Reading Urgent Care Centre, are located in the same place. I attempted to access the Urgent Care Centre as a walk-in due to an urgent medical need in pain. I was dismissed, they said as it was a bank holiday, and because I am a registered patient, they wouldn’t see me. The Urgent Care Centre is only for unregistered patients. They turned me away without even asking what was wrong. I then had no choice but to go to A&E at the hospital. How ridiculous that patients from other surgeries can access the Urgent Care Centre but patients at Broad Street Health Centre cannot. I will be looking to change surgeries.

  6. Review titled Frustrating

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 25 January 2023

I have been a registered patient for number of years but sadly the service has been getting worse over time. It’s impossible to get an urgent appointment, despite of calling during appropriate times and spending almost an hour waiting to get through. The nursing staff is very friendly and helpful but the GP’s are apathetic and never running on time.

  7. Review titled Callous reception

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 January 2023

This practice epitomises everything wrong with the NHS. Nobody answers the phone, even to tell you that which is known now to all: there are no doctors to help you. But what is most telling is the cold reception and complete lack of concern by the staff. NHS personnel have, it seems, just given up on their patients and their ability and willingness to help. Every NHS encounter now starts with callous indifference, if you're lucky - or at worse outright hostility.

  8. Review titled Practice Doesn't Make Perfect

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 January 2023

Having spent half an hour on the phone in a queue, and an additional half hour attempting to even get onto the queue, I was told that they can't take requests for repeat prescriptions over the phone anymore and that I should instead visit in person or email. Rather than giving me the email I was told to check the centre's website, which I did - and where there is no contact email! The communication is terrible

  9. Review titled Unable to contact

Rated 1 star out of 5

Their phones are unavailable, constantly busy. Wonder if lines are not active anymore. It is also very unclear what is going on with this GP. Is it private now? Is it walk-in anymore?

  10. Review titled Hopeless

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Mike - Posted on 15 January 2023

Never made it to the walk in centre. Information on opening hours totally inadequate. The paramedics thought it was open on a Sunday. The website said not. Nobody answered the phone, so had to do a return trip to Henley. That a place like Reading doesn’t have a walk in centre 7 days a week and/or fails to promote it properly is pathetic. Would like to review its medical services but can’t.
