    I felt the nurse was unprepared. They got labels wrong on bottles, took off plastic gloves to reattach and change labels, risking contaminating samples. They took my weight but when I asked if it was in the normal range, they did not tell me, as they said they did not have their glasses on. Their glasses were in a case beside them. I was shocked and bemused by the nurse's attitude. At reception I was left standing with my stool test whilst in the back section people checked their mobile phones and chatted. No-one came for five mins. I felt I was not important as a service user. That staff seemed to be busy with their own private preoccupations.

    Football hit my son's ear. Still bothering him 10 weeks later, so went back for a review. Being referred to ENT to get thoroughly checked. Son also bumped his head on back of the sofa and felt dizzy and blurring briefly the next day. Barton House very responsive. Very good at call backs and giving appointments. I think Barton House gives great customer service and great healthcare. I never feel rushed and I find everyone at the practice is approachable, thorough and genuinely kind and caring.

    I filled in a request to see a GP online and was rung that evening with a date for a telephone appointment. The GP rang me early in the day and asked careful questions. After that he invited me for a face to face at the surgery that morning. I got a thorough health check which was hugely reassuring. I especially appreciated being seen so quickly in person. My health condition has caused me a lot of anxiety and the fast, professional and sympathetic response really helped me cope with that. Results of the tests havent all come through yet, but the process has been excellent and helped me manage the stress of being unwell much better.

    I had a leg injury that was dealt with within a matter of days by the physio at the practice. Great service to be able to self refer and not have to bother the GP. Also it was easier for me to go the practice rather than St Leonards which has happened in the past.

    I have had a pain in the back of my head and behind my right eye for almost 2 weeks with intermittent kaleidoscope vision. As this was not getting any better I decided to visit my GP. The doctor gave me a thorough examination and all looked ok. However, as I am in my sixties and have never had migraines before, it was decided I should go for an MRI to make sure there had not been a small bleed in my brain and to check for anything unusual. The doctor referred me to the Homerton Hospital, gave me the printout with all my details on to hand in at the hospital, and I am waiting for an appointment. I felt very looked after by the doctor.

    The new booking system was clear and thorough. It enabled at appointment without delay or fuss. The appointment took place on time. It was a well informed discussion using all the information I had supplied. The doctor was clear, authoritative, caring and reassuring. I felt my concerns were understood and fully addressed. Excellent service.

  7. Review titled Access to care for autistic adults

    It’s one of the better GP practices with compassionate GP’s who make an effort to take patients seriously. However, there still needs to be significantly more training for working with high functioning autistic adults, and access to health care, as per the Westminster Report on the significant struggles faced by the autistic community within the NHS.

    I phoned to book a nurses appointment only to be told I can’t book them over the phone and should go to the surgery. I’m disabled and can’t walk far and this is difficult. The Receptionist sent an email to the nurses asking them to get back to me. They didn’t. Three days later someone rang me from the practice about another matter and I asked them if they could book the nurse for me and they said yes. After my appointment I asked the Receptionist how to book a nurses appointment and the rigmarole was so long and baffling I still have no idea how to do it. The old system of booking was terrible but this one is worse. You have to go to your medical history and fill out a long form to get an appointment two days later if you’re lucky whereas on the phone they look you up and automatically know about your history and give you a choice of appointment times. This new system closes at 4:00pm too. What about old people who can’t use the internet? I don't believe this been thought through properly.

Please note that all appointment booking inquiries must be processed by filling out the online form, whether by calling the surgery number, completing the form yourself, or seeking the receptionist's assistance in filling it out. There should have been no reason for you to be told to come to the surgery for this purpose, and we apologize for any confusion that led you to come in, especially considering your mobility challenges. Nevertheless, we will address these concerns internally to ensure this doesn't happen again. Regarding the delay in getting a response from the nurses and the complexity of the new system, your concerns have not gone unnoticed. We are actively reviewing our appointment booking process to find ways to improve accessibility and user-friendliness while also ensuring compliance with the NHS England's online form filing requirement. Our aim is to create a system that is more convenient for all patients, regardless of their technological familiarity. We value your experience with us, and we will work diligently to ensure that our booking process becomes more streamlined and accessible to everyone.

    Receptionist phoned me to let me know I could have an appointment for my blood test and well women check at the same time, which was really helpful for me. Before that the only available appointments had been on different days. I also liked the new system of requesting an appointment, via the enquiry form. Much easier to use than the app. GP phoned me on the same day.
