Overview

Fulbourn Hospital has a number of inpatient units providing quality mental health care.

The wards are:
Mulberry 1 is a 14-bed acute assessment unit supporting adults aged 17-65 with severe mental illnesses or disorders. The unit is the first step of the Trust's 3-3-3 model, with a typical stay of up to three days.  

Mulberry 2 helps adults aged between 17-65 with severe mental illness/disorder, who are experiencing an acute episode or are in crisis. With a typical length stay of up to three weeks, Mulberry 2 is responsible for delivering the care plan devised in Mulberry 1 (acute assessment unit). 

Mulberry 3 is a 16-bed recovery unit with a typical stay of three months catering for both the acute care service and forensic services for CPFT. We treat adults aged between 17-65 with severe mental illness/disorder.

Willow ward supports patients over the age of 65 who suffer from long- term functional mental illnesses but also admits acutely functionally unwell patients.

Denbigh Ward has 18 beds for short and long-term assessment and treatment of older people with dementia. It covers the areas of: Cambridge City, South Cambs, East Cambs, Royston and Essex.

George Mackenzie House is a low-secure unit with facilities to care for up to 20 patients, both men and women, under the care of either the general consultant psychiatrist or the forensic consultant psychiatrist.

Springbank Ward is a 12-bed unit, providing in-patient psychiatric services for women with severe personality disorders, many of whom have used mental health services for a long time or have experienced multiple in-patient admissions.

S3 Adult eating disorders unit is a mixed-sex in-patient unit for adults aged 18 and over based at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. It is a specialist unit for individuals with an eating disorder who have been assessed by the community team and need a more intensive approach to treatment.
