Overview

Woodlands Unit

URGENT CARE CENTRE

The Urgent Care Centre is based at Queen Mary's Hospital, and is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It is run by Oxleas between 8am and 10pm.  After 10pm and until 8am, the service is run by South East Health Ltd.   

They provide care for patients who have minor fractures, wounds, illnesses and injuries such as:

  • Minor cuts, bites, stings and nose bleeds
  • Burns and scalds
  • Dislocated fingers, thumbs and toes
  • Minor chest, neck and back injuries or pain
  • Foreign objects in wounds or other parts of the body
  • Injuries, sprains and strains
  • Infections, including wounds
  • Fractures to shoulders, arms, hands, fingers, legs and ribs
  • Minor eye injuries
  • Minor head injuries with no loss of consciousness and not related to alcohol
  • Minor ailments
  • Minor allergic reactions
  • Emergency contraception, simple women’s health problems, chlamydia testing and C-card.

WOODLANDS UNIT

Woodlands provides 24 hour inpatient services for adults and older adults living in the borough of Bexley. The unit has the following wards:

Leyton Ward
An acute assessment ward for people aged over 65 with mental health needs.

An assessment ward for people aged over 65 with dementia.

Millbrook Ward
A ward for people aged 18 - 65 with mental health needs in the Sidcup, Bexleyheath, Bexley, Blackfen, Welling, Thamesmead and Cray areas.

Lesney Ward
A ward for people aged 18-65 with mental health needs living in the Crayford, Erith, Belvedere, Barnehurst and Northumberland Heath areas.

There is an electro convulsive treatment (ECT) suite at the unit that provides a trust-wide service.

There is also an occupational therapy activity suite.

Fantastic service, delivered by staff who are both caring and efficient.

The service was fast and efficient. I had a fracture and the communication between staff in xray and in the Urgent Care Centre was flawle...
