The specialist consultants at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases (HTD) provide the UK with diagnoses and treatment for all tropical diseases in adults and children including: parasites, malaria, leprosy, and diseases of the skin, eye, and gut, The Hospital accepts direct referrals from general practitioners or referrals and transfers from other hospitals, and also has an emergency self-referral service for certain conditions. The Hospital serves long and short-term travellers, immigrants and refugee populations. It also provides the clinical infectious disease service for University College London Hospitals (UCLH) NHS Foundation Trust and houses the National Travel Health Network and Centre. The Hospital is part of UCLH, named top hospital trust in the Dr Foster Guide 2011/12.
