Care At The Chemist

We are one of the practices within Bury PCT that is participating in the care at the chemist scheme. The scheme allows patients to obtain medication for minor ailments directly from participating community pharmacies without the need for a consultation with a GP or a prescription. Patients exempt from prescription charges would receive the medication free. The pharmacist/pharmacy staff will ask you for evidence of registration with your GP. This could be your NHS medical card or the right hand side of your repeat prescription. Do not worry if you do not have proof, the GPs receptionist will be able to provide evidence. However if your pharmacist cannot confirm your registration because the surgery is closed, they will NOT be able to provide you with any medication under this scheme. For further information ask at Reception for a Care at the Chemist leaflet or see the posters displayed in the practice. The scheme covers the following minor ailments. Constipation, diarrhoea, conjunctivitis, nappy rash, head lice, sore throat, athletes foot and many more.
