Overview

Emergency Ambulance

East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust was formed July 1, 2006 with the merger of ambulance services covering Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire, East Anglia and Essex.

We are one of the largest ambulance services in the UK.  Our dedicated staff are our biggest asset and provide services in six counties, Norfolk, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk which is an area of about 7,500 square miles.  It encompasses tranquil rural retreats, busy seaside resorts and large urban conurbations.

Our varied and modern services are tailor-made for each community’s differing environmental and medical needs, from cycles to fast response cars, frontline ambulances, helicopters and emergency care practitioners.

We attend more than half a million emergency calls a year, and our patient transport service takes nearly three times that amount of patients to and from routine hospital appointments.

Trust Headquarters is at Cambourne, Cambridgeshire and there are local offices in Bedford, Chelmsford and Norwich

Services

The East of England Ambulance Service provides high quality emergency, urgent and primary care services.

Our aim is to be the recognised leader in emergency, urgent and out of hospital care in the East of England.

Our dedicated and skilled staff work 365 days a year, 24 hours a day to make sure patients receive the best possible care.

Our services fall into three broad areas:

Accident and Emergency, urgent response to 999 calls.

Non-Emergency Services and Primary Care, such as the Patient Transport Service and GP Out of Hours Service (Norfolk & parts of Essex)

Special Operations  such as the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART)
