Trust HQ

The Trust comprises Manchester Royal Infirmary, Saint Mary's Hospital, Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, Manchester Royal Eye Hospital and Dental Hospital.

We became a Foundation Trust on 1st January 2009. The previous organisation, Central Manchester and Manchester Children's University Hospitals NHS Trust was established on 1st April 2001, bringing together Central Manchester Healthcare NHS Trust and Manchester Children's Hospitals NHS Trust.

We aim to provide all users and staff a quality service. We focus on providing care that is sensitive and responsive to individual patients' needs. Our Mission is to become the leading integrated health, teaching, research and innovation campus in the NHS and to position itself on an international basis alongside the major biomedical research centres, as part of the thriving city region of Manchester – with its strong emphasis on economic regeneration, science and enterprise.

Departments and services

Royal Manchester Children's Hospital
The hospital sees 135,000 patient visits each year.


The University Dental Hospital of Manchester
One of the key specialist dental hospitals in the UK. Situated on the Manchester University Campus. 


Manchester Royal Eye Hospital
One of the largest eye teaching hospitals in Europe, the hospital provides an extensive range of eye services for both adults and children.


Manchester Royal Infirmary
The MRI is now the city's largest general hospital with more than 800 beds.


Saint Mary's Hospital
SMH was founded in 1790 and, over the years, has successfully developed a wide range of world class medical services for women, babies and children


Trafford Hospitals
The Division has just under 2,000 staff, supported by over 200 volunteers, in our hospitals and within the community. 


Community Services
The responsibility for running community health services in Manchester changed on 1st April 2011 as part of the Government's Transforming Community Services programme.
