The Medway NHS Foundation Trust has developed close collaboration with NHS Medway to review the National Service Framework (NSF) for long term conditions pathways and alternative service provision of patients with neurological diseases.

These links will need to continue and develop to enhance the GP service to patients with chronic diseases.

We also encourage close working with the voluntary sector and other agencies to enhance care.

The neurology team at Medway consists of four consultant neurologists and one senior registrar and has been associated with the neurology department at King’s College Hospital, London for a very long time. Our current neurology consultants work at both Medway and Kings. As a tertiary centre, Kings provides investigational facilities, including expert neuro-radiology advice, inpatient neurological beds and a full neurosurgical service.

Nurse specialist posts enhance the neurology service. We have three specialist nurses for multiple sclerosis, one epilepsy nurse and two Parkinson’s nurse posts (PCT post). Consultants actively encourage participation and integration with all aspects of the neurology service.
