This district general hospital was opened in 1976 to replace a number of small hospitals. It has a 24-hour major Accident and Emergency Department and all main specialties. The hospital has recently undergone extensive redevelopment including a new Accident and Emergency Department, a revamped Outpatients Department and a £2 million breast unit.
