Always receive excellent service and advice and this morning's visit for flu and COVID jabs was efficient and friendly

On Saturday evening I had been prescribed medication by the out of hours service at Southend Hospital. When I arrived at Derix the pharmacist was walking away having just locked up (he later told me he was delivering medication to a care home). He must have noticed that I was quite ill and quite distressed, and after checking that I had come for a prescription, immediately went through the not inconsiderable rigmarole of opening the shop up again just to ensure I received my medication. A very kind and compassionate service; I was very grateful.

They are one of the best pharmacies with fantastic opening hours and friendly staff but lately they seem to be always be out of stock of items resulting in you have to return for your prescription whoever does the stock control needs to get it in order !

Three times now i have returned to pick up shortage of prescribed items and been told that this is incorrect they do not have any records. New system required with written proof of shortage needed. verbal not good enough.

I went in today and he said he could do prescriptions which I didn’t know so was amazed. He was so helpful. Can’t rate it high enough.

Southend Hospital sent me there at 4 pm Boxing Day 2022 (yesterday) after 4 hrs in a&e. They electronically sent through the prescription and the website stated opening hours was lunchtime till 5pm. Got there at 4:20pm and yep you’ve got it.Shut! So then I couldn’t even find another pharmacy as I had no prescription hard copy! It is now next morning and I haven’t got my pills and will have to travel to collect them later and will they be open as the website states?

Hi Michael, I do apologise for the inconvenience and we will look into what has caused this miscommunication with the hospital, we were in fact open 1100-1500 as stated on poster in front of our pharmacy as well, hope you managed to get your medication in the end.

had a late night appointment for my child at the hospital (10pm) was told by out of hours doctors that my child needs antibiotics asap and that Derix pharmacy l-o-s is open till 11pm! but got there at 10:42 and closed!!

Firstly I hope your child received the required treatment and hope they are well, we do apologise for the inconvenience caused, we are aware that we close in certain situations slightly earlier due to deliverance of palliative care medication to local care homes as we are the palliative care centre of the region, and we do put a sign outside to explain, we will look into how we can make the sign clearer as it may be hard to read at these late times.

This pharmacy is approachable, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I have used them several times over the years and always been impressed with their efficiency and care. Today was no exception, they have a non-medical prescriber who helped who was clinically savant and sorted an appropriate medication quickly and safely. Top marks!

I cannot recommend this Pharmacy enough! I'm not someone who has suffered with many conditions in my life but I have needed meds throughout my pregnancies and the level of care, service and listening that this Pharmacy have given me has been exceptional. They always go above and beyond to help, ordering medications in quickly, ensuring they had enough for future requests and even sending me to alternative Pharmacies when they couldn't supply. Amazing work Derix! I will keep recommending you!
