The Priory Hospital Market Weighton is a registered male independent hospital, supporting individuals with learning disabilities, behaviours that challenge and complex mental health issues. Situated in the attractive town of Market Weighton, the service is ideally located for safe, structured and gradual reintegration into the local community. The purpose built hospital is an open service with the ability to lock the doors to maintain service user safety. It can accommodate up to 19 individuals in four distinct areas providing a tiered care pathway to support them in their recovery and rehabilitation. All bedrooms have en suite facilities.
Provision at the hospital includes:
• A main ward for eight service users with communal lounges, activity rooms, laundry area and dining room
• A high dependency unit for three males providing a low stimulus environment for more intensive support
• Eastfield View, a self contained annexe providing a step down service for four service users who have developed some independent living skills
• Westfield View, a four bed self contained bungalow within the grounds that provides a pre discharge service
The multidisciplinary team work together to develop personalised, recovery focused treatment programmes and care pathways, as well as a range of therapies to meet all service user needs. The hospital delivers rehabilitation by stabilising mental health, reducing challenging behaviours and enhancing daily living skills. Staff actively maintains working relationships with case managers and community teams to enable a smooth and successful transition to life outside the hospital.
Close links exist with support groups and education and employment opportunities are available to help facilitate reintegration into the community. When required, the team can provide a safe and supportive long term placement, ensuring the best quality of life, in the least restrictive environment.
