  1. Review titled Very good service

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Fiona Paton - Posted on 27 August 2023

My husband had a very bad reaction to a bee sting. Reception in urgent care was friendly and efficient. We were seen by a triage staff nurse within an hour or so and moved to A & E. After a further hour or so (during which he was observed by doctors and nurses going past to see other patients), we saw a wonderful doctor who sorted everything out. I have had some bad experiences in the past but I now think Lincoln County A and E has got its act together. I dont particularly want to visit again, but I think I would be in very safe hands if I did.

  2. Review titled Waiting 24 hrs in pain

by Crohns sufferer - Posted on 18 August 2023

What care? You were left waiting for hours and hours for pain relief, even after the triage nurse wrote on the front of my notes and begging 4 times for something for my pain, when all they would give me was paracetamol which was useless. After 10 hours waiting for the scan it confirmed I had a bowel constriction. Didn't matter. I still had to wait another 12 hours for a bed. There were patients waiting just as long just for prescriptions just to go home. From what I witnessed, A&E at Lincoln was a shambles. The ward staff were good. I think your management should sit in a typical A&E clinic and observe the chaos where there were not enough seats, no one being seen quickly despite seeming to have plenty of doctors. The nurses working tirelessly, but from my perspective anyone above nurse grade was appalling.

  3. Review titled The service was excellent

    by authenticwc36 - Posted on 18 August 2023

The whole department could not have done better, the service was excellent, everyone was smiling, helpful and informative. They deserved the cupcakes I gave them. Well done. The areas I went in were very clean and well ventilated.

  4. Review titled Took the time to explain things and listened

    by waterge54 - Posted on 24 August 2023

When I had an implantable loop recorder fitted, all the staff I encountered were friendly and welcoming, took the time to explain things and listened when I had queries and comments, which was all very helpful.

  5. Review titled High quality care

    by Jed22 - Posted on 23 August 2023

I’m a Police Officer and I injured my knee on duty. I was taken to UTC and was seen by triage who sent me to x-ray. The results showed I had fractured my tibia and required an overnight stay pending possible surgery I would like to pass on my thanks to everyone involved in my care. Everyone was to caring and understanding and nothing seemed like too much trouble. The lady in triage who initially saw me was an angel and handed over to a male who again looked out for me while I was in his care until the point I got onto the ward. On the ward, I was given the same great level of care and I would like to thank everyone from the nurses to the doctors, physiotherapists, consultant, staff and anyone else I came into contact with as they were all fantastic As another blue light worker I know the pressures staff will be under. However, this was never reflected in the level of care i received. I saw nurses leaving late at night and returning early the next day and giving such quality care to everyone. Thank you

  7. Review titled I wanted to express my thanks to the doctor and nursing staff

    by hydraqk89 - Posted on 24 July 2023

I attended Lincoln County Hospital for a gynae procedure. I was a little apprehensive but all the staff from the receptionist to the medical staff were very welcoming. Everybody was introduced to me. The doctor gave a clear explanation of what would be happening, I had plenty of time to ask questions. My privacy was respected. The procedure was a little uncomfortable but I was offered pain relief if I wanted it. After the examination, I was given clear information as to the results and future plan. The appointment finished with the offer of a cup of tea and biscuits. I just wanted to express my thanks to the doctor and nursing staff involved - they are a very efficient caring team and I could not fault any part of my care.

  8. Review titled The consequences of not going could be far worse.

    by mineralsk84 - Posted on 27 July 2023

Not the most dignified or comfortable of things to be doing of an afternoon and I was naturally a bit apprehensive about the whole thing. However the staff in the unit went out of their way to make me feel less anxious and embarrassed. Always friendly without being too familiar they kept me informed at every stage of the process by being very clear about what was happening before during and after the colonoscopy. I’m not saying it will be painless but it was nothing like as bad as I was expecting it to be in fact the preparation during the two days previously was worse than the actual procedure itself. If you have had a positive screening test don’t put off going for the procedure the consequences of not going could be far worse. The staff really were very understanding and kind. A credit to the hospital.

  10. Review titled An absolute waste of a morning

    by jackpotzd55 - Posted on 27 July 2023

Lincoln County Hospital- Clinic 8, had eye drops put in & was sent back to waiting room. After 2 hours I still hadn't been called in to see the doctor. I queried with the receptionist & they said they would check. When I was eventually called in 2.5 hours after my appointment time, the doctor said my notes had been misplaced & they didn't know I was waiting. The doctor blamed it on bank staff putting the notes in the wrong place. Then the doctor said because I'd had drops in I couldn't have my vision tested so this was an absolute waste of a morning which I had to take annual leave from work for. I was told I would be sent another appointment in 4-6 weeks - which, again, I will have to use annual leave for, and it is difficult to arrange time off at short notice from my work.

Dear jackpotzd55 All patients upon arrival into Clinic 8 are arrived on the computer package KIOSK. This enable the patient's progress through the department to be mapped and the clinicians to be made aware that their patients have arrived in the department. They will then have their vision checked in the vision channels and then depending on whether they require any scans before the eye drops are administered, they either have their diagnostics and then have their eye drops administered or in the absence of any further tests, are administered prior to leaving the vision channels. These drops are prescribed either in the paper notes or directly onto Medisight prior to the patient being called forward for their vision checks. The patients then wait in the waiting area until they are called forward by the clinician. Ophthalmology has the luxury of an all-encompassing computer package 'Medisight', which has all of their Ophthalmic history stored within and this then places less reliance on their paper notes. In other words, the patients can still be seen in clinic even if they have only a temporary set or no medical notes. The signs which inform patients to notify the receptionist if they have been waiting for a long period were not visible when I visited the clinic this afternoon. or was the monitor, which gives the same message, turned on, so I cannot confirm whether it was in use when the patient attended. I have asked the receptionist to make sure that the signs are clearly visible in all areas of the waiting room to prevent patients having a similar experience in the future. Please pass on my apologies for the poor experience they received on their recent visit, the complaint will be shared with the Clinic 8 staff to enable lessons to be learnt. If they would like to contact me when they are rebooked into Clinic 8, I would be happy to ensure that their journey through the department and the experience on the day is in line with the Trust's Values and Standards. Kind regards, Louise
