    My Grandmother was experiencing some shoulder pain likely due to some tendonitis. I completed an e-consult on her behalf and she was reviewed within 48 hours and had a steroid injection into her shoulder at the surgery which has helped significantly. Working in general practice myself I know how long sometimes patients can wait for such injections. I am extremely grateful for how quickly she was seen and she was able to have the treatment in the surgery. Given the enormous stress general practice is currently under I think this is a fantastic service. Keep up the good work Farnham Medical Group.

    My husband died 4 weeks ago and has been with this practice through his entire life. I am very surprised that no one from the practice got in touch and to offer any condolences, especially as my husband thought the world of the practice and its doctors. I am very saddened on his behalf at the indifference shown.

    I called with symptoms of a water infection. The phone was answered promptly and the receptionist was very pleasant amd helpful and a telephone appointment was booked with the GP. The GP called me quickly and after looking at my medical problems ( I am immunosurpressed) sent a prescription to my chemist for me to collect. Overall an excellent service.

    Called yesterday to book an appointment Told to call back today as this is when new appointments get released Called today a few times, last being over 30 mins wait. Call still not answered and no appointments booked. No idea of where I was in the queue How can anyone wait this long in a working day?! Need more telephone staff or they need to change the days the appointments become available to the start of the working week. Frustrating to say the least!

    Dear Patient We are constantly reviewing our telephone system with our provider and have again asked them to check for faults and offer technical service improvements. We are currently undergoing a high level of sickness within our call handling team and are asking other staff to help out and work overtime. Please consider submitting an online request via our website at www.farnhammedicalcentre.nhs.uk for non-urgent matters. We currently have 2 new members of staff in training and an advert out for another. We appreciate this is frustrating for our patients and staff but are doing our best to meet the high level of demand with the staff and budget restraints we have.     Rang today @ 14:02, the message said closed for training between 14:30 - 17:30, unclear as to why phone not answered as was before 14:30.

    In previous years i have never been a one to go to the doctors and to be honest would avoid if at all possible. Since January 2021 i have had concerning ongoing health issues and trying to get an answer on the phone never mind an appointment is basically a waste of time. There no online booking appointments anymore and Telephone consultations are now just as hard to get. Even filling out an E-consult is pointless as no-one contacts you back within the time frame specified and when they do they defer you to someone else ( eg. physio telephone appointment ). The attitude and tone of some receptionists is another level. They are rude and they talk over you like they cant be bothered. My health problems are now impacting on my work life as well as my home life but what can i do? I cannot believe how bad this surgery has become.

    Dear Patient Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you feel you have had a poor experience. We are experiencing telephone difficulties and are working with our provider to make improvements. We are also recruiting new staff. The weekly reports we receive back from econsult indicate patients are contacted within the timeframe. Our staff are trained to navigate patients to the correct service for their condition and on many occasions, it is a different member of the wider primary care team who is better able to manage that particular condition. We have a Care Navigator Team Lead who is available to speak to patients who wish to report staff attitudes on the day. On the whole the practice manages to book appointments for patients within 48 hours of contacting the surgery, thereby eliminating a 2 or more week wait for an appointment, which we feel offers a very good service. Once again, we are sorry that you feel your experience has been so negative and will pass this back to the relevant teams for discussion. Emma Graham Practice Manager
