  1. Review titled Unable to see a GP face to face

    by JMK1983 - Posted on 17 February 2023

Several questions from the receptionist who I totally understand is doing their job, however I felt I was spoken to in a manner that did not show any signs of compassionate care. I was in a lot of pain, not sleeping, having had previous back surgery. I was informed on the third conversation that I could not see a GP. I was told I could ring again at 08:00 tomorrow. I explained I had been ringing since 08:00 this morning. I also asked on initial phone call about the GP also checking lesions also on my back. The receptionist on the second call said I could email a photo? Clearly, no size could be obtained. The whole system is in need of an overhaul, if this is how vulnerable people are made to feel, then I am sorry but the Patient Feedback is shocking, Woodside Medical Centre have already let my daughter and niece down massively but as I have been a patient for more than sixty years I have stayed with them. I am appalled at their uncaring attempts to reduce the face to face appointment system.

Rang today for appointment it connected at 8 but said surgery is closed tried again said closed, then tried again and it says number not recognised, this is not the first time this has happened, phone lines not fit for purpose and a risk for some patients.

  3. Review titled Overwhelmed

Rated 1 star out of 5

I've been with this GP since birth. Pre-covid I had no shortage of good things to say and had recommended them several times to people. Now, however is a different story. For some reason the ability to book appointments online was taken away, leading to being told to queue up outside in all weathers before the surgery opens at 8am for an appointment. I'm physically impaired and this is honestly a fairly impossible ask, as the appointments are not for any close time and therefore I'd be expected to leave and return when operating with very limited mobility. Good luck on trying to phone up as the alternative though, you'll be hung up on or the line will be busy for well over an hour, possibly in the hopes you'll give up as you know there'll be nothing left. Don't be so silly as to try and book appointments with the GP in advance, either, though. They don't do that. The entire roster of doctors seems to have more or less completely changed multiple times over the last two years. It's frustrating to always have to explain one's medical history anew at every appointment. Honestly I can't say I plan to stay here. If you've a job or anything prohibiting you from queuing indefinitely outside for a maybe-appointment, this is not the place for you. They can't cope with the increasing local demand and it shows.
